Bee Gees fan since Massachusetts no others compare. In my opinion their 1989 “One For All” tour was the peak of their live performances. I love their early 70s stuff which never gets mentioned. “The Chance of Love” is a masterpiece.

Cool Cat is definitely one of the most underrated songs of Queen ever, I also think it was a bit ahead of its time, for me, it has some 2010s vibes

I've got 4 brothers, and they couldn't have more different personalities and like the Gibb brothers there is always a clown in this case Mo, a timid one, that's Robin and as you say the charismatic one was undoubtably Barry! Their mother Barbara Gibb once said "I remember walking past the boy's bedroom, the twins were about 5 years old, they boys were singing in perfect harmony, I thought they had the radio on" so from that they started harmonizing at a very, very young age. Thats hard to believe isn't it that 5-year-olds could harmonize that young! One day when the brothers were walking home from the cinema, Barry said to the twins, "one day we are going to be famous, I just know it". How right he was. I grew up listening to the Bee Gees I was in my teens in the 70s and even went to the local disco dancing the night away to Night Fever!

I think a kind of magic is a great song. Thats one of the reasons I would put the album a bit higher. I also think that there are other good songs on this album. I'm a huge Queen fan but all in all I think all of their albums are a bit lacking. It' a top three band for me but none of their albums are even close to top 10 for me (except greatest hits 1-3). I think thats for me the only downside with Queen. And honestly I don't understand it. They have so many great songs. More than almost every other bands. Compared to David Bowie and the Beatles (the other of my top 3 picks) their albums are lacking. But all three have as many good songs. And I love all three.

This has been a favorite album since elementary school. I am so encouraged that younger people are discovering it in the twenties! I always found it strange that the song is about the Baltic Sea, but the title refers to the Black Sea.

The BeeGees always wrote the Melody first before writing any words. Then the harmonies.

Look at; A Day in the Life, Lady Madonna,Hello GoodBye, and I am the Walrus. Merge that with some BeGees and some Vocoder vocals and you see that this song is related to all its influences. However like Oasis it feels “stolen” without being taken at all. This is why it’s used so much in movies. It’s GREAT 70s production.

I prefer Greg Phillinganes' 1984 version 😎 … … 😄 Okay, okay… As most have already said, it's a tough choice : The energy of the demo is nice, but the saxophone intro of the 2010 version, and some of the arrangements are nice too… Tough choice (but, the Greg Phillinganes' version is nice too, and the 1987 "live in studio" version Ryuichi Sakamoto re-made (he's the composer) is quite nice too - Bernard Fowler on vocals !) kzread.info/dash/bejne/gWmsxc98dMnVo5c.htmlsi=HYlgnStptRn7vmUm // kzread.info/dash/bejne/k6WemaV8YNHWhKQ.htmlsi=VyOjTuwKmerP8cLS

Great deep dive in every way. I totally agree with you. I bought this album as a cut-out for $1 back in 1973 on vinyl and loved it (and loved that crushed velvet cover). It blew me away. And I made every friend listen to it, because even then, it was an underrated and mostly unknown album. It did not sell well (hence why I was able to buy it as a $1 cut-out).

Freddie Mercury was way better. He was also the first one to wear the sequined glove on one hand back in 1975 that you can see on the video "Liar." Michael Jackson stated he liked Freddie's one glove on the hand look and copied it. Michael Jackson also was not the first to do the Moonwalk. The first was Bill Bailey at the Apollo in 1955 and the second was Jeffrey Daniel in 1982 who taught it to Michael Jackson.

I get where youre coming from. Personally, i dont think his 80s work is overrated, I think perfectly rated. Though, I do agree that alot his 90s work is underrated especially post mortem. Sometimes it feels Its like the mainstream conscious forgot how active he was in the 90s and how, in some ways, that work outdid his 80s stuff. I also think Wanna be startin something is the most underrated song on Thriller. I even think its better than Billie Jean.

Can I recommend a reaction to Gojira. In my opinion, they are the best Metal band of the past 25yrs (for me, ever, even over Metallica, sorry chaps). They should be a household name, they're that good, and rate Metallica as one of their biggest inspirations (they've supported them too). They are French (sing in English), Grammy nominated prog-technical death metal band - although their style has certainly moved to more groove and possibly post-metal sub-genres - with themes and lyrics focused on environmentalism and philosophy. Fantastic live too. Very hard to pick the right first track. I'd say it comes down to Flying Whales (their signature track) and The Art of Dying (prob the fan favorite). Coin toss. The latter is probably better produced and may score higher for vocals...

I could never honestly rank albums by Queen as one better than the other, but as someone who loves both their 70's and 80's music, I do feel that The Game, The Works, and A Kind of Magic are more favorable to me than their first two albums and A Day at the Races and would be higher on my list. I do agree that A Night At The Opera is an awesome work of art, Sheer Heart Attack is enjoyable throughout, News Of The World had a lot of good songs that were overshadowed by the two hits that came before the rest of the album, and Jazz emphasizes the band's creativity. Never really bothered listening to The Miracle, Innuendo or Made In Heaven since Freddy's illness and death at their time of recording make them feel like they would depress me, and as for Hot Space I could only buy it if Side 2 was sold separately as it's own EP and even then I wouldn't even think of calling it one of my favorites.

Did you know that none of the brothers could read or write music? They wrote all their music by ear. There will never be another group that comes close to the Brothers Gibb. This was done with no auto tune or pitch correction. Today pretty much all of the music is electronically altered. This was an era when you had to be able to sing to get on stage. I've liked and and subscribed.

Queen had five GREAT albums and three GOOD albums. The first five were the "great" ones. The "good" ones were News of the World, Jazz and The Game. The rest of them can be thrown in a dumpster. 🫤🙄
