So I recently had a massive wildland fire rip through where I live luckily fire service kept it off my home but there was still a ton of my neighbors and friends who lost their homes to the fire, the soil was "contaminated" from the houses burning so they took actual earthmovers shoveled the contaminated dirt into them drove them down the main highway to a disposal site and burned it again which I'm sure didn't send any harmful contaminates into the air or water here by the coast. This whole time people who had just lost their house had to pay for the removal and require permits to build "as it was" but really they had to bring everything up to code and they used records from the public office meaning the money for the updates they'd have to do to their home and property would eclipse the original price of rebuilding by up to 8 times so now we're hemorrhaging locals who've been here for generations because of beurocracy and greed.
