Tom and Rob head to the Scottish village of Altnaharra to try out the local way of fishing 🎣 🏴
From Season 1 Episode 2: Altnaharra, Scotland
This episode begins at Bilbury in the Cotswold Hills at a privately owned stream. Rob and Tom then head north by train to the tiny village of Altnaharra in the far north of Scotland. Heather-covered hills, unspoilt lochs and some sensational single-malt whiskys make this a very special trip. There were trout, sea trout and the possibility of a salmon, the most highly sought after fish in Great Britain.

Absolutely loved the series, hope we can see a lot more of it, have the video set…somewhere..! Yes it’s that old,but absolute gold
That rod looks like a winner Tom, Robs just one of those guys who catches all the fish😅
A great series. It was supposed to be mainly about fly fishing but it was more travel guide for adventures and experiences with some fly fishing thrown in. Even my wife loved watching it! Made before the corporate advertising product placement shows we see masquerading as travel shows now. Bring it back Rob!!!
I have the River Somewhere box-sets on VHS, DVD and AppleTV . . . love it and watch it often!

Dead set.
Loved this series. Love to see more please.
This series (four series?) was one of the best Aussie TV shows of it's period. I've been meaning to dig out my DVDs of it if I can find them. May have to source from elsewhere though - haven't seen them since the late 1990's!
This series got me into fly fishing back in the late 1990's, I love it, it was bloody funny, the writing was witty, the show was engaging with a great atmosphere and spirit about it. I constantly get together with like minded mates and go the NSW Snowies and NZ to fly fish in beautiful locations. PLEASE consider making another few episodes - you dont need heavy cameras anymore in the digital age and you dont need helicopters anymore to do aerial shots LOL. Anyway , one witty quote from Episode 1 when Rob and Tom get up in the morning and begin walking the bridle path in the Australian bush to go fishing in the beautiful Howqua River in Victoria, Tom says the following: "Australian bush, has a special feel to it, every shade of dull green imaginable." LOL Do an episode about a NSW river, cheers.
I’d love to see a new season!
I enjoyed this series. When I visited the north of Scotland it was the middle of summer. The midges did not bother me at all. I did pack some Aerogard from home. Maybe this helped me to avoid being bothered by the midges.
A fabulous show, not equaled until three cooking mates sailed around Tasmania!
I’d love a few more seasons if you can manage it
Tom when he had hair lol
Loved this show, and I’m not a fly fisher, please rerelease it
In Scotland the flies fish you - if you know, you know.
I hope this post is testing the water. From tempting Yarra surface goodoo to tenkara in Japan and even a bit of trout tickling, there's plenty of scope for more shenanigans. Time for an online only venture?
Time a River somewhere remake? I think so!
This must be the prequel to Gone Fishing
Sounds like the Leyland brothers lol.
Scotland empty during midge season for a reason. More ferocious than drop bears

I'll wager that neither of them have picked up a fly rod since.
