    Im 35 and trying to figure out my branch. Air force, navy or army. I want to learn tech skills to translate in the civilian world. Im currently working in a warehouse and if i continue i wont feel satisfied. The military can help me grow. Ive got the ASVAB training book from Barnes N Noble, i got new running shoes, and im gonna work hard to condition myself physically and mentally. Talked to some recruiters already and they were excited to have me.

    Amazing to hear all this I hope that you stay encouraged on the journey and I often tell people just having the goal of joining the military should put you in the best shape of your life and get your mindset sharp. Way to go with all the effort and investment you’re putting into yourself you’ll be better for it. You can always sign up for the reserves if you don’t wanna go full-time, but definitely do what’s best for you.

    Pardon me for breaking ranks. By time someone is 30-35, they should be getting close to where they want to be going. When I finished basic training, perhaps 85% of us thought about making the military a career. About 20-25% stayed in. After every war there's downsizing. People who wanted to remain are eliminated. A DWI, bad evaluations, injury, nutty spouse, being heavy, failing p/t tests, and many other reasons will have you going home after 4 years. Then you'll be in worse shape than if you never joined. The notion of spending months with teenagers in barracks doesn't interest me either. Go ahead and float your ego on how much they respect you. That doesn't pay the bills.

    Single parents, beware. You don't automatically have the rights to pack up a child and relocate to serve the military. You might have to get permission from the other parent. That's even if he/she has been inactive in parenting. Is there a court-ordered custody, visitation agreement? The other parent has every right to object to you relocating. Since you're moving, you have to pay for the child's flight home for visits. You may not get judicial approval to pull the child out of school to move. And moms often suffer depression when away from their children in basic. I'm not trying to be overly negative, but marriage, family, and the military can be a tough combination.

  • @thomasryan2679
    @thomasryan267910 ай бұрын

    Dan, how do you exercise 5 times daily while serving active duty? I was a K9 handler. We worked 12-hour shifts. Going and returning from work added another hour or two. We didn't have time or energy for those activities. You work out all day long, attend college, have time to study, and listen to massive hours of audio books while serving the army? Sounds like you are a do-nothing, hiding, part-time soldier, or scammer. That or just plain untruthful. Don't suggest this personal time is available for those considering joining. They may have to do real work while you're studying or looking in the mirror at the gym. And 6-figures (99k) in my city is low average. You call yourself "couch surfer"? That suggests you're a boob. Typical of the lowest-level officer who's full of himself. I hope you get a hardship tour to see that serving doesn't circle around you.

    He’s not lying another thing is if your a person who feeds off of motivation like me you will be just fine. Being in a hotel before that trip to MEPS made me 100 percent positive in my choice in joining military. 18-22 ages they was just so positive and had they life planned. I’m thinking these kids just bad asl no they was book smart and knew what career they wanted. Don’t let fear stop you from being successful every job comes with a little risk. Look what the usps post service have to go thru in city’s and they still out here working that’s how I look at it.

  • @SixFigureCouchSurfer

    Yep i had several female friends in the Army I can post some info on that. I write about them in my book if ya care to get it. Ita on amazon but u can preview it on my website “combatpsych” Dont feel you ever have to change who you are to fit some mold You deserve as much respect and dignity as anyone else WHY? because youre human If anyone makes you feel unwelcomed it says more about them than you so just find people who build you up. Some females want to be one of the boys while others keep to themselves, its up to you how to behave but i advise always be authentic and true to you. Your light will shine brighter to guide others the realer you are. (Not sure realer is a word)

    it definitely will help set you up if you plan everything ahead of time and have a sense of what you’re getting into before you sign the contract- if you’re married or have kids definitely adds more variables to balance out but if not, shouldn’t be too big of an impact and you can always go reserves or national guard as well, depending on what you’re looking to get out of it

Have you seen much of that or are couples usually married prior? My concern is that if I (unmarried w/ girlfriend and child) were to enlist, if I’d be able to bring along my family considering that we are not married. Thanks in advance

    I am a single mother of 1 currently waiting to ship out for Air Force active duty. I already had established a family care plan. BUT I WANT TO KNOW Can my child live with me once I get to my duty station?

  • @SixFigureCouchSurfer
    @SixFigureCouchSurfer Жыл бұрын

    My understanding is once you get orders cut for the duty station you will be heading to that is when your family can start their move. Some are able to sign leases remotely without ever visiting first while others, depending on the location have their family members travel out to look at various houses and apartments to figure out which one to sign a lease for so it kind of depends.

    Hey brother I need some feddback from you, but I will just watch the rest of your content and might find my answer there. Im 30 years old a about to enlist for the second time. The first time I was a straw to say the least and was not physicallynor mentally strong, and suprisingly was given administrative leave in 2013, with the instructions to get right and come back later if I want to. Fast forward to 2023 and i have a family married with two children.. Moneys tight, unfortunately. I have been excersizing for 5 years now, with weight lifting and not to throw shade but I am currently bigger than you in this video. Note that I have not seen any more videos of yours YET. So as being a 30 year old now, what is anything that would deter this decision to reenlist.. My wife of 6 years is on board 100% and I see no wrong possibilities of joing the military. But again, I am still working on the angles to asses the optial choice. So do you have anything? And also for the others like me please add to my comment and make it thread.. All information is valuable information and I would humbly accept it.

  • @SixFigureCouchSurfer

    If your spouse supports you and has the appropriate social support, you should be good to go. Just be aware of the required time commitments throughout the duration of your military contract (tons of uncertainty unfortunately). Time spent at work versus with your family is really dictated upon which unit you are attached to and what the mission set is. For example, some jobs require a lot more field time than others much to deal with what MOS you have. This video was after basic training where I lost about 20 pounds of mass and on average I think my buddies lost around 20 to 40 pounds as well.
