The Urban Nemophilist

The Urban Nemophilist

The urban nemophilist lives in the city but his heart and soul lives in the forest and wherever there is green.

The celebration of colours, the ambient sounds, the mystic scent and the fascinating wildlife that make up the forestlands and waterbodies of our earth is the elixir of his life.

The urban nemophilist attempts to capture all of this through green art and sustainable gardening activities while the sketching and music sets up the mood for what is nature-appreciation at its best.

The goal is to create awareness on conservation of nature and wildlife through art and sustainable initiatives.

Why pouring the water with the plastic ?

So that the substrate doesn’t get stirred up which can dislodge plants and stones.

Looks really good. btw why did you boil the tree branch first?

Thank you. Boiled the wood to remove as much of the tannins as possible so that the aquajar will need less water changes for a clear water. (Tannins make the aquarium water brown and can take several water changes to make it clear)

I just began making my own terrarium half a year ago. My job needs to travel away most of the time so I could not check it regularly. I noticed some of my Fittonia and Cushion moss died because of the heat in the terrarium during the hot day. Thanks for the tip to help me come up with some solutions for my terrarium

When you planted the aquarium I thought: I wonder if it will last a month or two for most of the plants without CO2, just like many videos on YT try to convince us it's not necessary to have CO2 for some plant species. It always looks nice and fresh just after planting. But man you added that CO2 to this nano in the end, that's the way the cookie crumbles!

Condensation on the walls of a terrarium is normal and is an indication of the water cycle inside. It should occur heavily in the mornings and evenings and clear up some what during mid day when temperatures inside and outside match up. If heavy condensation persists throughout the day it could be due to overwatering or could be just the quality of the glass (thick and recycled) which may be conducting heat at a much poorer rate than other qualities.

What type of potting mix did you put down first? I’m about to repot a 7 year old dwarf jade and I’m a little nervous. I got “bonsai potting mix” but I don’t know if I need to mix it or put down some other type of soil first or what
