Create A Stunning Fishbowl Aquarium With Lush Plants
Easy and Beautiful Planted Aqua Bowl for shrimp and snails (No filter fish bowl aquarium)
Not suitable for fish keeping.
In this video I used a 12" galss bowl to make an easy and beautiful low tech bowl aquarium for shrimp and snail.
I used aquasoil capped with sand for the substrate. For hardscape a piece of spiderwood and river stones were used. The key is to use thin pieces of driftwood as the bowl when filled with water magnifies all the elements many folds.
Planting was done with low demand plant species. Heavy planting is recommended as this setup will not have a filter and will completely rely on the plants for natural filtration.
After a week and a few rounds of water changes fire red shrimps and horned nerite snails were added to the aquabowl.

I learned something new today, thanks to you! The Azalea roots are Spider Wood. So many plants that dry out and we just replace them with a life plant. I threw money away and should had saved it, if I had known. A huge hug and thank you!

Curious if there's a reason you waited till after refilling the bowl to add hydrocotyle tripartita mini? Or did you think it was just missing a little something? Another beautiful build, though I would've liked to see more of the shrimp and snails - maybe a future update video? 🤞😉

Thanks. I am using RO water for this bowl. Water changes conducted using a pre-filled airline tubing for draining and filling up the regular way using a watering can.

I am curious 🧐 did you wait a month before puting the Shrimps in ? Since no Filter daily water changes?. Will plants survive with out Co2 injection ?

  • @TheUrbanNemophilist

No, one week with beneficial bacteria. Regular water changes initially. Later once a week when tank is established. Low demand plants used hence CO2 not really needed.
