Samuel Earp Artist

Samuel Earp Artist

Hey!!! Thank you for stopping by my KZread channel, my name is Samuel Earp, and I am traditional realism artist. I love painting landscapes, especially water and the sea, which I enjoy painting most of all. I also love to paint outdoors on location (en plein air).

This channel is to help you with your painting journey. I post instructional painting videos that cover all aspects of landscape painting and more. I demonstrate painting design, composition, colour mixing, values and tonality, art theory, plein air painting and useful information to help you create successful art works. I would like this channel to be a resource for anyone wanting to learn how to paint. I hope you enjoy my channel.

    western and european landscape is easy to paint, try tropical landscape, with heterogen plantation, with domination green color.. uneasy to create dimension feel and deepness

    how do you maintain the lighting conditions as sun travels ....will you keep a photograph ?

  • @SamuelEarpArtist
    @SamuelEarpArtist8 күн бұрын

    When painting outdoors the easiest way is to paint your dark values first. I painted this a long time ago so I can’t remember if I carried out the same approach with this particular artwork. When you paint your darks first it doesn’t it then doesn’t matter if the light changes.

    0:17 too many rocks- in left foreground- your rendering of water- waves and colors are beautiful- however the rocks take away from the vast beauty of the ocean-

    The water is rendered beautifully- however the rocks are a distraction- and block the viewer from entering into the scene- Seascapes are - can be so beautiful with the flowing waves and main wave- the illusion of the foam- not sure why painters always throw big rocks - boulders on the beach- coast and within the composition- it’s a distraction- eye stopper/ takes away from the depth- beauty of the waves--

    These books are a must for beginners and seasoned painters: Edgar Paynes- Composition Carlson - Landscape Helen Van Wyk - Color Seascapes- master water - waves- etc - E. John Robinson ALL of his books are filled with so much information on everything about painting water- and composition - color schemes- Note: ALL of his books contain different information- (many think that his newer book is a duplicate of his older one- it’s not) a KZreadr reported this false information- Total of 4 books!!! These books above will serve you well- and refer to them throughout your journey!!! Walter Foster book on Clouds- great tips - demos- composition on clouds - color scheme- shadows Helen Van Wyk- has many on color- each book contains different information and demos- She also has a small handbook on everything to know about painting- (wonderful information) E.John Robinson - also has a book on - everything to know about painting water- he covers landscapes- mountains- waterfalls etc. Again - all of his books are best for anyone who favors - water- ocean- waves - his demos cover every aspect of ocean water- sea foam - surface waves- water etc. Helen’s books- are best to learn about hues- what each color does when mixed etc Also she has demos on still life’s- silver- gold - etc Florals - Her book on Color- is a must - All of these books can be found at times the prices are very high- and then become low- Master - refer back- understand and know the contents of these books above- they will serve you well-

    Hi Samuel This is very helpful to me as I’ve never really learned how to mix colours properly… do you have any other videos where you really explain which colours you use (as in this one) to mix the paint, in a different landscape or with a different colour palette to this one? Many thanks

    This painting needs to be critiqued .. All is good with the exception of the road going down into the tree. The tree should be moved more to the right because of not only composition, the road should not become the tree. The fence does not belong even though it’s there. If there has to be a fence, make it irregular. The sky is very good.
