    Forgive my ignorance but do the eyebolts not heat up enough to melt the pvc due to their being a larger diameter than the wire ? Do they get hot at all or is the heat concentrated only to the wire?

    Have you looked into urethane additives to slow down weatherization of wheels? UV, moisture?

    I know this is pretty dated, but one thing you could do is to take up a bunch of the unused airspace with something. The vacuum can evacuate much faster. (I've been using old cans of food. Sometimes their tops pull up, but so far none have opened.) I actually made a vacuum chamber basically exactly like this -- same type of chamber except the bottom vessel was stainless (top still transparent plastic), and I put a fitting on it to go to my full vacuum pump. Unfortunately, the seal shape on mine was not proper for this and the strength of the full vacuum would pull it in, breaking the air seal. Anyway. :)

    I used urethane resin bowling ball plug to fill in some holes and I tried the acrylic paint food coloring and both tried in size over flowing the holes had to drill out idk why it worked on yours maybe the pressure pot? The bowling ball plug colors are expensive as is the ball plug. I wonder if I should order the stuff you are using and test it out on an old bowling ball

    You should be able to degass the 2 parts before mixing. I don't know anything about resin casting, bit just based on the physics, which are that this is not gas produced by the hardening reaction but gas already dissolved in the resin.

    Those are NOT Vice Grips, those are channel lock pliers. WEAR SAFETY GLASSES when using any replaceable blade knife in that fashion. When they snap small bits of blade shrapnel fly everywhere.

    But also, tjhey have wax filaments for 3d printers lol u can just print the wax. of course this looks cheaper lol but still if u wanna do super good acurate shit cheap too u can just get cheap $100 resin printer and get wax resin and make actual pro grade jewlery, of course u know that but ya i wonder, where can we get lots of cheap wax for practicing this? i was thinking about all the wax i get whenever i freakin buy certain brands of HEESE wheels!!! i KNEW I wouldl ned it one day :D its red tho,m think thatl be an issue?

  • @JanBinnendijk

    To be honest, for the holes.. if you have a 3D printer, just print a support, cast a Pilothole, and drill the Kingpinhole in the hanger and the baseplate afterwards. I do have a CNC mill, that will greatly assist me in doing that kind of work.. I also like the 8 hole baseplate for wheelbase adjustment.. i've never seen that.. and i think it's cool! Since you can make these Jigs for making the mould with a 3D printer, Go Crazy, and design your own trucks, with a shape that everyone will recognize!.I have made a 3D Design (available on GrabCad) of the Bennet Vector trucks, copy the geometry, and design a less cubic shape.. :)

    Thanks for the video man. Excellent result. Tell me, what kind of sand do you use? I made a mixture of sand, clay and water with sugar, but I can’t achieve such a good surface as yours, I’m still experimenting with humidity, but the surface of the mold keeps crumbling, even when I gently blow air from a hand air blower.

    Will this cut very firm seat cushion foam for furniture. I have 6" thick and want to reduce to 4" thick. They are 6x22x21and I want them to be 4x22x21

  • @davidav8orpflanz561
    @davidav8orpflanz561Ай бұрын

    I'm looking to horizontally cut a 10" thick 6' x 7', latex mattress in half (fillet style), due to the outer surfaces developing body impressions I hate sleeping in. Then I can put the outer faces into the middle and spray adhesive glue to join them. The trick is, not to cut the pieces with waves, but perfectly flat for a level sleeping surface. Why do this? California King size Natural latex foam mattresses cost $3,000 USD! So, if I can just "resurface" this mattress this way, eliminating body impression sides, I can get another 10 comfortable sleeping years out of this mattress - for the cost of making a cutter about 7' wide, and keep the overall original width too. So, I'm thinking of using wood to make one of these, a 7' long piece of wood (2" x 4" x 7')(and attaching a wider flat thin piece ofmterial to the 4" side, to it for guiding (i.e.: 1/4" x 24", x 7'), which can make the cutter lay flat and even, keeping the cutting line flat and making a 5" deep straight and flat "Fillet" cut from start to end, as I advance it over the top of the mattress (lying on a flat surface) - kind of like a planer works on wood - except in this case the planer is the moving machinery, and work-piece (Latex mattress) is stationary. Thus, I'll use springs to make the nichrome 80 wire taught, that way; why I need an extra 1' wider than the mattress width, room for the springs beyond the width of the mattress. I already have tools, hardware, and power supplies (might need 8 minimal to 10 or > Amps for a cutting wire so long). If sure AMAZON has the nichrome 80 wire, eh! Maybe I should make a video,eh?

    Your old video didn't have a backing board. Just the clamps on the backings of the mold. Any reason you used a backing board this time for the press? I am asking why this video you did: spar -> backing board - > mold backing - > veneer -> mold backing -> spar instead of spar -> mold backing -> veneer -> mold backing -> spar Do you need the backing board or does it just make pressing easier?

  • @GoodRoads
    @GoodRoads29 күн бұрын

    Basically you want to use a backing board any time you need to distribute the clamping forces. Some of my printed molds are strong enough to press without one but it'll never hurt to add one.

    A pressure pot doesn't remove bubbles, only makes them small enough that you cannot see them. Degassing the mix prior to pouring would remove the bubbles.

    I resin my wood stuff to seal in color. I accidentally use some cheap-o markers that I had laying around, and started running when I applied a spray can gloss. So now i make sure that any markers I use, don't run, with spray can gloss. Then I can pour resin.
