heph being as smart as he is, especially once a zenith prisoner, can intuit the threat the zeniths are to himself, therefore would kill specters as he would carja or aloy, reference 3:54:16 amazing video btw, very very well done

This game is the one i enjoyed playing most in my life, until I played this game, I thought gothic was a masterpiece of storytelling and gameplay, but this game, even though it is 100x in size is many times better, I felt like being part of this world and had some real purpose, not some random one, like playing for myself, than playing just for the story, I wanted to save the world, in PvZ too I had similar experience, but the mystery section of this game, i would keep it at the level of One Piece in story

Such a good video! I couldn't get very far actually playing the game because I found the pacing and gameplay a little boring but I'm really happy for this video to have been given a thorough explanation on the plot. Great work.

Great video, much enjoyed listening to it after finishing both games. One picky remark is about the title of Chapter V, "Hath" is the old form of "Has" for the third person singular, thus wasn't/cannot be used for the "They" pronoun. Great work in any case, would love to see/hear more from your channel!

My day 2 viewing comment 😅 Im glad you share the sentiment that San Francisco was vastly underutilized. I was expecting San Fran was a huge part of the game... and then I was further disappointed that we didnt go to Northern San fran for burning shores but further ignored san fran instead to a place that has burning shores... but has very little to do with lava. (But I still enjoyed it a lot cause... i mean we know why) SPOILER I do think it shouldve been Errend & not Varl though.. errend always struck me as mostly just a hopeful romantic for aloy but is not always that helpful to the story.. he's mostly there in the base to be a light giggle etc 😅 I wanted varl to survive the 3rd game.. but maybe that's why devs picked him to die.. but then again aloy already lost a male figure that can help set her straight with rost. Varl helped fill that originally. Though I guess she never had that maternal figure either.. but at least now has a few females that help balance her out post burning shores along with Beta Also.. i didnt realize that the sunwing was a leak rather than marketed content... in that case... I cant be upset with the late-game reveal at all then 😅

WOW! Im a big Horizon fan platinuming both installments and getting all quests finished with all dialogue experienced... but even I dont have as deep of an understanding on the story that you do! You cant connect all the dots casually with only 2 playthroughs each lol I also didnt replay zero dawn right before forbidden west so for me every single reappearing person was confusing except high ranking in meridian like Sun King and the other guy.. and I remembered Errend and kind of Petra.. lol Even Varl I didnt recognize till I saw his ps4 version of a quick google search 😂. I think it was the beard combined with several years and better graphics aging ppl. I'll definitely need your vids preceeding the 3rd game haha... maybe even the lego installment

I think this analysis is pretty solid, except for your criticisms of the nemesis plot twist. Foreshadowing nemesis would have worked since there wouldn't be a narrative way for Aloy, and by extension the player to have that foreshadowing. Nemesis only came into being after Far Zenith had left earth, so there would be conceivably no data entries to find, aside from the two you mentioned, which were likely after thoughts by the devs (I hadn't read them so i don't know the specifics of those data entries). The only ones who really knew about Nemesis were the Zeniths, who, aside from Tilda who was keeping things from Aloy anyways, were all trying to kill Aloy, so its not like she could have asked them. I think the only way to have had that foreshadowing, is to incorporate your idea for a side quest, but have it take place in some kind of outpost the Zenith made after they returned. Not every plot twist necessarily needs foreshadowing to work, if the lack of that foreshadowing makes sense narratively. But yeah, fantastic video otherwise, I'm looking forward to watching your analysis on Zero Dawn, and if it exists, Burning Wilds, since that actually has something about that but about Aloy's romantic arc in it, albeit an optional one.

I actually have to disagree with you and bare with me here: So i owned HZD since the complete edition released and never played it (name random reasons here - i just never did), BUT was always insanely interested in the story/lore. Now since i owned the game i never got myself to watch a yt vid about its lore - since i own the game, why dont i play it instead of watching a random guy talking about its lore right?! Fast forward to last week. I did play it and i enjoyed it. Gameplay was ok/nice, nothing to complain about.. but the story was rly good. But now im sitting here and watching ur analyses and i honestly have to say: im pretty sure not playing it and just watching this wouldve been a better experience for the game (for me). Its like watching a movie.. its strange. So i actually disagree here. I think the story and the game should be looked split from each other when reviewing this game. Is it worth to play this game? Yeah it is, go and hf! Is it worth to experience (playing OR watching) the story of the game? ABSOLUTELY MUST! Thanks for the effort u went into to do this vid! Have a like and sub!

Loved the video. I’ll play FW first, before watching the next one. One thing I would add is that I don’t think it’s necessary to know what glitch it was. The consequences are what matters. I’d rather not know than have a flawed explanation that would be have the whole world built exposed to something like “and nothing would have happened if they use a save as with a different name”

IMO the constant existential crisis Aloy is expected to overcome is starting to feel grindy. It means the writers have to make up even more powerful foes to the point that overcoming them beggars belief. They should have done a more personal focus on humanity and their adjusting to the world as it was rather then ending the game on the Nemesis plot.

Don't you just love when people contradict themselves in the thumbnail alone? I do, because it saves me time listening to someone untrustworthy. A masterpiece has no flaws. So a "flawed masterpiece" is not an actual thing. On top of that, the game's story is actually rather terrible when looking at it objectively.

I hope your channel gets a huge boost soon and you continue to make videos because these are one of the most entertaining analysis videos i’ve seen in a while. You have a good voice for storytelling, you speak properly, you criticize things when its deserved, but respectfully. Shared these videos with a few friends who enjoyed playing through innocence and requiem, and they loved your videos too.

That said I fucking love this game even though harvesting parts and getting thrown around repeatedly mid-fight sucks. Rarely do I have a moment where an encounter makes me feel cool, but when I do, AAH it makes me feel so cool. Not to mention the sublime environments and loving attention to tribal cultures.

Idk if you've stated it somewhere else already, but I'm looking forward to your reflection on Burning Shores. You don't "fail miserably" for taking the time you need to make the point you want to make. I'm two burrowers (Shock Canister Burrower and Apex Acid Canister Burrower) away from 100%-ing my first playthrough of the game. While looking for those two, I binged all three of your Horizon videos and it brought me much joy. Thank you <3
