Remarkable paraphrased statemment : (14-:15 minute mark): I would like to present an argument, and I hope it won't be necessary to provide extensive evidence to convince you that our world has reached a critical juncture-perhaps a point of no return. It appears so, as we find ourselves deeply entrenched in a crisis, knee-deep in the consequences of our actions. We have inflicted severe damage on our environment and its ecology. We have unraveled the fabric of our communities and families, and we have compromised our inner psyche.....We have laid waste to every natural element we have encountered. And if there is anything of value that we have constructed, it is solely aimed at mitigating-not truly resolving-the severity of this destruction. Our efforts are designed to normalize or, at the very least, make the devastation more palatable.

Excellent interview, amazing guest Dr. Hallaq, with amazingly precise descriptions and statements. This guy is a genuine genius. Nevertheless, there is something I want to point out regarding a claimed symbolism about mountains shaking and speaking. 40:45. There is no symbolism in Quran, meaning if Allah سبحانه وتعالى says something then it must be taken literally, and not metaphorically or symbolisticly. So mountains speak in fact, every thing in the worlds glorifies Allah.

The littéral and the symbolic are one in Quran. Though Quran has only truths and no mythologies, the truths we cannot see, we must depict ( perhaps not imagine) ourselves. We ‘see’ Allah thru his creation, angels thru their resulting actions. We see death or the dead but never the Angel of death.

Dr. Hallaq analysis are very interesting, and this is the third video I am watching for him, total of 6 hours in 2 days, right after the Podcast he had 9 months ago in Arabic (English subtitle is available too) I really recommend non Arabic speakers to watch it too, information rich podcast, I am a Palestinian myself, Dr. Edward Said & Dr. Wael Hallaq are really distinguished Palestinian scholars to be proud of as a Palestinian myself.

شكرا للدكتور وائل حلاق على هذا الطرح الهادف والعميق لمفهوم الحضارة الاسلامية التي جمعت بين الأخلاق والقانون والقوة والسلطة في تناغم كامل. ذلك أن جوهر الشريعة لم يكن منحازا لفئة المشرعين ضد المشرع لهم ولا لطبقة أو جنس أو عرق ضد آخر. أتفق معك د. حلاق بأن ١٨٢٦ كانت بداية التغريب وقتل نظام الأوقاف في عهد محمود الثاني الذي أساء للإسلام وحاول الحداثة مع قطع العلاقة مع جذور الشريعة. أتطلع بشغف لمشاهدة المحاضرة التالية. لك مني كل الاحترام والمحبة وأرجو لك كل النوفيق في هذه الأبحاث الهامة.

للشريعة تعريفان. احدهما ضيق يشمل الاخلاق والقوانين الاسلامية، والثاني عام يشمل العقيدة والسنن الربانية والشريعة كما عرفناها. اما التعريف الغربي السائد وهو التعريف الذي يحصر الشريعة بالقوانين التي تفرضها الدولة فهو تعريف متحيز ولا يغطي الا 5% من الشريعة بتعريفها العام.

It's an informative session coupled with the depth of knowledge dealing with intricacies of today' s world. What attracted me to apply for this course is its rich and enlightening themes connecting the boundaries of Islam. For example, Gender and Islamic ethics and AI are the themes which are highly debated. I hope after getting acceptance letter, I will move to this prestigious varsity and sharpen my knowledge by living in a diverse culture.....In Sha Allah....
