Smith could’ve destroyed Funk easily. He was feared by players at the UT who has previously played with Orndorff and Matuszak and on top of that he was a great collegiate wrestler.

Two absolute legends in the ring. Bronco Lubich was supposed to officiate this important match but he got hold of some bad sushi that day at lunch and was unable to answer the bell so to speak.

Back when moves meant something and they weren’t trying to do a thousand moves to each other. Def prefer the pacing compared to nowadays.

Oh that's the Ox? I remember when I was a kid, Dr. Bill Miller was talking trash about how he had a secret weapon to destroy Bruno Sammartino, but all he did was show a picture of this guy. But Miller said he came from Mongolia. He looked so big and scary, I was so afraid that he would beat Bruno.

Bob Boyer wrestled into the mid-80s as a WWF jobber. Wrestling changed a lot more between the 50s and the 80s than it did say in the last 30ish years. Boyer went from this to being squashed by Kamala, Sika, and the Hart Foundation.

Luce is in agreement with me….those with beef will always beat 190 lb guys. maybe thats why aews ratings are terrible, 95% 160 lbs or less acting like they are unbeatable, winning matches against big wrestlers that have experience. just stoopid

I’ve been following rasslin’ since 1968. I’ve heard many an announcer. With all due respect to all announcers past and present; nobody can come close to Mean Gene Okerlund. Jim Ross is a close second.

I just heard and learned about Steve Williams this week. So great that he found God and became DR Life. Hope the rest of his fans do the same. Jesus is there and it’s too late when you’re dead. My first match of watching Williams. I knew the match with Bam Bam would be the one to watch. Bam Bam made Lawrence Taylor look good. Bam Bam was a great wrestler also. You know when great matches are happening, is when you don’t know who you want to win because both are so great at this. Like Stone Cold vs Rock and Rock vs Hogan

The "logic" of O'Conner's "work" in ricocheting off the ropes to then put Rogers over as the new NWA champ was kind of subpar for him. I think that O'Conner was given the AWA championship to make up for putting Rogers over.
