    This tskes me back to my first solo ride, about 12 years ago. My first was a Honda Shadow VT125. I adored that little beauty. Had to sell my bike when my marriage ended a couple of years back. I didn't realise how much I missed it until I watched this. Hoping to be back on the saddle soon.

    Agree or disagree. But as far as I'm concerned, bike tests these days are just a money-making scam. When I was younger, you took your test on the road with one guy standing and watching you. and it must have taken half an hour. All this crap now is just to con people out of a lot of money, and I don't like being conned. I haven't passed my test, but I was riding a 250-cc for years and never had any accidents. There is nothing they could teach me that would make me ride any better. I only wish I had taken my test before they brought all this bullsh*t in.

    I agree, the whole process is wrong. My friend passed her bike test today - she is a fantastic rider but can't ride a proper big bike yet because of her age. If it was a car test she could drive a Ferrari!

    I have looked into this, the DVSA state you can record your MOD 2 test via helmet cam if it is being used for insurance purposes (Which it is 😉) since it takes place on public roads. You are not allowed to post on social medai anything that could identify the examiner. You are also not allowed to have a camera on the examiners bike! The MOD 1 test takes place on private property so the examiner can ask you not to film.

    Its amazing how many people don't observe behind them enough. Also turning into minor roads and out on to major is Observations/signal/maneuver. Im always looking over my shoulder before changing direction or lanes. I don't trust my mirrors, they have massive blind spots. Too many dickheads on the road to think everyone is going to sit behind you at the speed limit or deal with a rider who's a bit shakey. Your doing alright pal, just keep riding and get that experience up.

I just replied to a similar message to yours so I'll paste part of my reply here too as the same stands 👍 "I'll be honest, I'm not one to get nervous or anxious but it got me on this occasion (Sleepless night etc...) I think I put too much pressure on myself to pass, as in order to re-take the mod 1 I have to take a day out of work, which sucks a sole trader as it is really tough to catch up. Aside from that I also have to find someone to pick my lad up from school in case the ferry is late or whatever which is no mean feat. That said, this all vanished when you swing a leg over as your mind is on getting the job done and nothing else. Don't forget the tester wants you to pass as much as you do. If you can get as far as getting on the bike you'll be fine as the test itself is easy enough. Book a test, I will look forward to you telling me in a few weeks that you have passed. Tommy, you drive a car so your mod2 should be a doddle. I found it easy, but I used to be a driving instructor, maybe that helped. Regarding the bike you are going to get? There is so much choice out there you can't really go wrong. I've just bought a Honda CB500 Hornet and it brilliant. I'm 70 so 500cc is plenty big enough at my age. And to be honest, it's no slouch.

    first time, i did my mod one excercises perfect until the speed gun test where i did 47kph and got failed when 48 would have done too!!. i think it was because it was wet, as well as during my training they didnt have an area long enough to get upto speed, we just went through the technique. I passed ok the 2nd time after changing training schools, but paying the extra cpl hunded quid for training, bike hire, time to spend doing it and test fees pee'd me off a tad, anyhow, we got there in the end. GL with your road test, i found it pretty straighforward if u concentrate, and the feeling of passing and knowing you can get what bike you want, or even ditching the L plates on a 125 is great, and riding it means it's a 'choice', and not something forced.

  • @TwoWheelsTommy
    @TwoWheelsTommy8 күн бұрын

    Yeah that speed thing is really annoying. I blame my beergut 🤣 The trouble is there is lag on the bike speedos and they are not that accurate anyway so you never really have a clue how fast you are actually going when you are accelerating like that. Rule of thumb is to just pin it. Ditching those L plates until I get my big bike will feel so good 😀

    Done my CBT today. Struggling a bit with the figure of 8. I’m doing a direct access to A license. Do you have any tips? I’m quite nervous but I plan on buying a 125 to get some riding experience and practising the turns etc

  • @TwoWheelsTommy
    @TwoWheelsTommy8 күн бұрын

    Nice one Ryan. It is worth practicing a little on a 125, but don't focus too much on them as it is much different, and easier on a big bike. Use all of the space available to you (It is bigger than you think), some people keep it too tight as they just want to get around the cone and put their foot down. Go wider, bigger, and faster and you will be much more stable. Remember you only need to prove your ability to an examiner on your MOD 1 test, which will be done on a bigger bike for the A licence. Your training for MOD 1 on the bigger bike will set you in good stead to smash your test. Good luck 🚀

    @@TwoWheelsTommy thanks for the advice Tommy! I had that in mind about getting a 125 but didn’t want to get too comfortable on it. @Ryan-wu4br You're welcome. Riding a 125 now will be invaluable to you. Get those lifesavers/indicating/road postitioning dialled as you will need these for sure for one test or another. CB650R is a great choice, they are on my shortlist for my first bike 👍

    @@TwoWheelsTommy thanks for the advice Tommy. I’m just a bit worried about the leaning and counter steering but I guess that all happens naturally without thinking about it? I’m sure I’ll Be okay after a few on road sessions

    @Ryan-wu4br I hear you. If you use all of the space available to you, you won't need to lean it that much , as long as you have the space. If it does start to go, you can use the accelerator to correct it.
