Hope you had a grate Christmas and New Years, I got a new jacket, quad lock phone mount, visor cleaner, a thing that you can put your helmet and jacket together on the wall and a motorbike coffee mug, unfortunately no motorcycle under the tree 😢

I ride all year round on a V-Strom 650xt. It makes me laugh noticing all the bad habits i've picked up since passing my full test 4 years ago, keep it up man!.

Fair play to you. I guess it gets easier if you do it a lot as you will know what kit works and keeps you warm and dry. I think every rider has bad habits, they may not actually be bad habits. I've noticed over my last few videos whenever I ask a technique or positioning question I get a whole load of different answers, all from people who think their way is the right way. As long as you stay rubber side down whichever way you manage it is the right way in my eyes. Here's to year 5 💪

15:34 If I can give a small tip: the middle of the road is the most oily/dirty, and has the most things that can puncture your tires, as cars don't "clean" the road there with their tires, so my instructor literally scolded me for riding there. What I've been taught in driving school is to divide your lane to three parts, so outer, middle and inner sections. When you have good visibility, and there are not a lot of cars around, keep to the outside, as it gives you more space between oncoming traffic and you, plus makes overtaking you easier. In city traffic or if you find yourself between cars, keep to the inside, because it (usually) prevents people from trying to squeeze next to you and possibly running you off the road, plus oncoming traffic has better visibility of you, so reducing the chance of them try overtaking and hitting you. Obviously all of this depends on the traffic situation you're in, it's just something I personally find very useful and safe.

Some good tips their Chris, separating the road into 3 sections makes sense. I tend to stick to the outside if it is dry but will head towards the centre if the road is wet (As long as the centre is drier). The trouble with things like this, I have had 100 lots of different advice so I've taken it all on board and going with what works best for me 👍

So I clicked on this video, and instantly thought that looks like St Helens, had many very happy holidays on the IOW. Loved all the scenery, especially around Sandown where we used to stay. Anyhow, it appears we share the same birthday, happy birthday for the other day :-) plus I'm new to motorcycles too, done my CBT in November and currently riding an AJS Modena. I got a suzuki polo shirt of my fella. I ride a suzuki gxs125. I'm doing my theory this month. Then hopefully taking my big bike test this year.

Hey, Tommy. Thanks for sharing another great video. We are expecting cold weather here in Alabama this week. Tuesday is supposed to be 9F (-12C) So I'll be taking this week off from the Moto commute and just drive the car. I got a motorcycle lift for Christmas so I can do my oil changes and lube the chain without killing my knees. :) Also got a top case bracket so I can add a top case.

Nice, you'll love it on a Hornet. The Diamond Races are on a back-burner at the minute I believe. Too many NIMBYS. We have a successful car auto-test in Sandown on sealed off public roads and it brings the crowds. I hope it comes as it will eb quite the spectacle. Previousl the NIMBYS said no to a motorcross track in Arreton, they now have a waste food processing plant (or something like that) on the proposed site so they should be careful what they wish for 🤣

@@TwoWheelsTommy Nice mate I can’t wait, you should try to stock pile some videos so you can consistently upload it will be better for the algorithm too, mate 😣I’m not too sure it might even be pushed back even more I wnat to jump back now and I could but I’m not sure how safe it would be as my leg is really week 😩I can leg press 50kg on my good one and about 10kg on my bad one (and that’s my leg shaking like crazy can only do about 2 aswell) so I’m not to sure I’m hoping before March now I was hoping the middle of next month but maybe around mid March

@LewisScales I'd like to but time is the issue. At the minute I need the weather and workload to play ball at the same time in order to make a vid. I can control my workload to some extent by starting work at 5am but if they weather is cack it's a no go. Perhaps in the summer I'll be able to. I can see how you might be tempted into rushing back into it, I'm sure you've been advised to take your time. You'll know when your leg is up to it 💪

@@TwoWheelsTommy Yeah flexibility within work would be nice for videos, I know when I’m up an running I’ve got about 4 video ideas just on the subject of a new bike, and meany more planned out think I’ve go about 40+ ideas in a folder on my computer ready to be made into meany different videos, my goal is to crack out 3-4 videos a week and pile that onto my list so I’ve got a whole big stock pile of videos to make weekly videos maybe on a Wednesday and Sunday, yeah it’s like that I’m just hoping il be ready soon 6 months without a bike and freedom is killing me 🥺

@@TwoWheelsTommy Yeah the 20 mph deal is mind-numbing. The atmosphere on the road has everyone on edge. Road rage, tailgating are at an all time high, pedestrians will literally walk out in front of you because they get inpatient or misinterprete your speed. Engine damage is already a common occurrence from over heating etc. On top of this our government can't make its mind up. Apparently we can get fined at 22mph on minute and now it's 26mph and they even stated drivers who are "genuinely confused" shouldn't be prosecuted. There's more but i won't give you a whole book to read lol. Fingers crossed you never have to deal with it

As a another Welsh rider I can confirm that it's just as bad as SimplySpooky24 makes out, probably worse. The Welsh Government does NOT want people in Wales to be able to travel or use the Welsh roads. We now have to watch channels like yours so that we can see what proper riding at sensible speed limits looks like, something we can now only dream of! :( Keep the vids coming; you're helping to relieve stress for Welsh motorcyclists. :)

10:06 no way would I of indicated there mate although it was a no entry that 4x4 could of quite easily had you. I’m a new ish rider too but you’ve got to think how a distracted driver could be thinking. I got straight on a 650 but I’d love a little thing like that too Isle of Wight is so quiet. Great viewing by the way

So ideally you should always be in the middle of your avaiable lane the whole oil thing hasnt been as much of an issue in the previous 10 years main offeders for oil in the middle of the road is around traffic lights where busses sit... enviromental cars dont leak like they used to. the middle tends to have less pot holes, rougher more grippy surface and because car exhausts and engines run over it the its dry when other sections arent. pick up a copy of the book motorcycle roadcraft its around £15 and a good read for learning everything to the best standard.

This makes sense to me, as you can imagine I've had a whole bunch of opinions so I play it by ear and mix it up a bit. I'll find my groove. Thanks for reminding me about that book, the copy I asked for for Christmas never materialised 🤣

Early vision best decision. On a right hand bend you can position yourself to the left for maximum view. I think you'll smash your test.

@IThinkItsMe I have bought the app ready to go so I'll read up what I need to know then pummel the mock tests. Theory test availablily is good were we are so it shouldn't take too long 👍

good ride as usual. When you get on something bigger you will notice it wanting to tip into corners much more willingly so it will become second nature

@@TwoWheelsTommy more or less, lots of tutorials on line. Worth learning as it helps you place the bike more accurately and can get you out of problems when the sh*t hits the fan

@gasman6163 I'll look into it some more. I saw a video once of a bloke on a push bike. The steerer tube had been welded so it would only steer left. The bloke was able to ride it in a straight line but was unable to make a left turn as he was unable to steer right a little first to 'swing' the bike into a left hand turn. Interesting stuff.

You are getting confident so fast! It's nice that you're still taking your time to give yourself time to react. My instructor told me to press down on the opposite buttock when leaning into corners. So turning left, press down right buttock etc. He didn't say why, maybe I was going too fast 😂. I have my eye on a Roof 0200 Air or something like that. Got to pass the CBT first 😂
