I never worry about accidently turning on any of my equipment. I super glue those silly plastic "keys" into the switches so they can't come out and be lost, lol. Some I've just took out the whole switch and replaced it with a simple toggle switch, like my DeWalt MBF radial arm saw came with when it was new.

Why try to fix or even modify a poorly designed press

  • @ReLoadersBench

Because that's the way my mind works. Quite satisfying to "fix or even modify a poorly designed press" to work nicely 40+ years after it was designed/manufactured.

Nice video brother! I just grabbed one on the prime day sale for $147.95 . I just couldn't pass it up anymore! This Vevor Bandsaw is actually the same as their "Best" brand of Harbor Frieght, their Hercules band saw but at a better price than HF. It also comes with the stand/vise and for the HF its over 100.00 xtra BTW you sound exactly like Tree top flier! Ill have to tell him he has a twin somwhere. 😄😆🤣

This Lee Inline Bullet Feeder, RCBS, or Mr Bulletfeeder? I want something that works well for rifle too. I'm thinking this is the way to go. I'm coming from the Hornady inline bullet feeders which are only for pistol. I thought I heard you say "no" to the RCBS at the end.

I bought one of these more than a year ago and have rarely used it. But I do like it. It has made charging cases much quicker and I believe more accurate But just tonight after I had charged about 75 cases it began the same issues as yours and in addition to not calibrating, the target charge amount changed by it self with no input from me. I'm going to try your fix in a couple days when I have time to get back to my loading bench. Thanks for the vid. It's been most helpful. I'll get back to you with my results. Thanks 🙂

  • @ReLoadersBench
    @ReLoadersBench13 күн бұрын

I purchased my mini mill DROs from Little Machine Shop. They offered two (2) variations with the only difference between the two being the thread pitch of the rods/drawbolts you would be replacing on your existing cross and compound slides. You need to match the same thread pitch. The description usually states what types of mini lathes the DRO is compatible with. I liked this approach better than wiring a hard connected DRO. For my skill/needs, this was a good solution for me.

Why cover up the serial number? I have a 1918 Colt "black army" is someone going to try and track me down? In fact my "black army" was purchased in Chicago in the mid 1960's for $20. The front strap was hand checkered and all of the serial numbers milled off including under the firing pin retainer. I called the ATF and they said if its older than 1968 which the "heart shaped" plunge mill marks prove. they just dont care. Serial numbers were for inventory purposes. I love your pistol! My 1911 was upgraded by Al Capone's son and I leave it as it is. Though the metallurgy of the slide is a bit soft its a terrific shooter and is hell of accurate! I will probably send my grandfather's 1901 Marlin 1897 to Turnbull some day. Great videos!

Really nice wood lathe. Quality was more than expected for the price. Very easy to put together, a lot better than my last lathe that took a couple hours to setup, this one only took about 30 minutes (and that was taking my time). Came with two different size tool rests, which was nice. I was a little concerned abut the 1/3hp motor in making a decision to purchase this unit. However, it works very nice at all speeds.

  • @clarkeregina

The motor and this lathe work well together. It seems to all be perfectly balanced and in tune right out of the box. For a bench top lathe, there is no vibration and the unit runs extremely quiet. The weight of the lathe is enough to keep it from moving around during operation, I didnt need to clamp it down or bolt it to the bench. The tool rest can be moved in any direction, which will come in handy for those weird projects. In all, this is a very fine wood lathe, especially for the price.

One thing i have not seen in the reviews (maybe I didnt look hard enough) is that the tool rest has been updated for the 3421 over the 3420. The tool rest can now be set to sit well below the center line of the spindle. Given this was the largest complaint the community seemed to have for the 3420, Im surprised WEN doesnt include this more in their marketing material.

My only complaint, and this is apparently an issue across most small lathes which I dont understand why manufacturers would do it but the tool rests are made with a texture which extends to the top where your tools are supposed to glide smoothly and evenly in order to make a clean smooth surface on what youre turning. I spent an hour filing off the texture around the top edge and getting it all smooth on both of the included tool rests and my work is coming out much better now.

Aggressive/bad cuts happen when learning this skill. I found it was much safer to have the motor stall on me rather than have a bad catch or a tool ripped out of my hand!I did buy the additional 4 chuck that makes life easier. It was about another $50.

Variable speed control is precise. Now some would want a bigger motor but I actually like the size on this. It’s more of a little more patience and a good set of tools. I think most people don’t realize it’s the chisel that’s doing most the work. So I recommend this any small work like pens, rings etc. And if you do get a dud from the factory just ship it back and get another.

For a project, it is necessary to drill some holes on some boards, which is very good. I want to create a branded unit, but for a tool that I dont often use, I dont want to pay 10 times the price out of my own pocket. There is a set of cutting tools available for sale for less than $100, which is very useful. I prefer larger capacity and adjustable speed. Cane used the wrong Fried Dough Twists drill chuck, but Vevors customer service personnel replaced the drill bit for Johnny on the spot. 100% satisfied.

Seen Vevor mini lathe with a option of monthly payments and though I saw the bad reviews I figured I take a shot. First off the weight is nice,no movement at all. It’s quiet. Tail stock and tool rest slide on the deck kinda tight but rather have that then loose. Both clamp down snug. Having 2 sizes of tool rest is handy.

I have used this lathe mostly for smaller items but it is capable to perform larger operations . Just remember it is not a 1hp Vicmarc lathe , I have purchased a second unit , to use to set up as a buffing station , and as the transformer has two outlets it will run them both ( probably not at the same time? ) . So for less than $200 you have a good little lathe that takes up a very small space . For the $100 price they are now I might get a third for a backup or for spare parts .
