If a CZ and a 1911 Had a Baby: First Look DWX Compact

I'm a fan of CZ's. Well made pew pews IMO. I'm also a fan of 1911's and think Dan Wesson makes a fine, reasonable priced (depending on how one defines reasonably priced as prices have been steadily increasing so maybe I should say used to be more reasonably priced, LOL) line of 1911's.
So when I first saw the DWX in early 2023 my immediate thought was CZ combined two relatively distinct lines into one interestingly new product. Piqued my interest, but unavailable to me due to my state's restrictions. Oh well, I thought.
Then along comes the Compact version of the DWX. Not only did this version catch my eye, but it called out to me. Must have one in my hands! Initial pricing was absolutely CRAZY, after all, this was a CZ not some hand fitted custom gem from a boutique type of shop. Kept my eye on the market and sure enough, since it didn't have a rail or RDS system (apparently 2 requirements of any new pew pew - just look at the Daniel Defense H9 released in 2024) prices quickly fell. Not a product fizzle or fail, but I don't think it was the hit they expected. Had both versions (full size and compact) had the RDS cut/plate system from the factory I think the response/sales would have been better. Was actually expecting the RDS versions at 2024 Shot Show, but we all know that didn't happen.
Regardless, I'm old school and no RDS or rail is fine by me as I actually prefer open/iron sights and I'm not the biggest fan of lights on pew pews personally. So here it is, finally. This video is my first look at the DWX Compact.

Picked up a DWX Compact. CZ/DW should have had an optic mount at least for those that want one. Me personally, I could care less about an optic on a CCW gun. I don't need a light either both are just more weight and at 30oz its already at the top of CCW weight limit for my preferences. I also don't care about an ambi safety. In fact on a CCW gun i prefer not having an ambi safety since I am a right handed shooter and see no need for the ambidextrous safety. Definitely a cool looking gun.

I would get one of these if an ambi safety was available. I'm right hand dominate, but shoot primarily left handed because I'm blind in my right eye. So all my 1911s are ambi and my CZs are all decocker models.
