I’ve had Early Riser on my tbr since it was published! I love Jasper Fforde’s Thursday Next books. Also unsure about the next series of The Witcher - a real shame Henry Cavill has left! Juli has not been the best reading month for me but currently enjoying Glorious Exploits which has just won the Waterstone’s Prize for debut fiction.

Just looked up Glorious Exploits, and it sounds good, though I'm not sure if I can imagine what the tone of the book is - intrigued! It was my first Jasper Fforde, but someone in the group said it was fun but not as well structured/plotted as the Thursdsy books. Having come to his writing fresh, I just found it brilliantly bonkers

I Loved Fitz so much. His character and the banter between he and Hereward kept me reading! It was so good to laugh in the midst of all the heaviness. I am looking for the Salmon - it sounds lovely! I just read “food detectives” and I have to say, it was not intricate or intriguing to me. I loved the food and the relationship between the father and daughter, but it fell flat in the “mystery” and the fact that the daughter and cat felt superfluous. Bookshop woman is on hold! Just waiting!

Deea, I notice you don't mention More Days at the Morisaki Bookshop 🤣😉 I think the foodie one worked for me because I decided not to consider it a mystery novel. The detectives bit is very misleading - we think crimes/murder mystery etc. So even though it said Food I was "huh?" 😕 for the first story.

Hi Katja, I think I told you I lived in Japan for three years and I am very much into translated Japanese fiction so I watched the whole video even though, perhaps food detective might not be up my street😊 I enjoyed days at the Morisaki bookshop so I might be interested in more days. Aloha friend.

Thank you 💛✨️If you liked "before the coffee gets cold", there's a chance you'd like the foodies 😊. I hope you like the morisaki sequel as much as the first. I just saw a goodreads review where someone had the opposite opinion to me - saying they prefer this to the first.

I think I must do a reread of Seven Husbands! It’s been so many people’s favorites, and I also really liked it…but have forgotten the story. I struggled with Ethan Frome as well. Hmm, giveaway thoughts. Sadly, Book Depository is no more but maybe from Blackwells? And paperback would probably suit just about anyone. Have a wonderful week, Katja ❤

The seven husbands of evelyn hugo is so great and one of my favourites in the year that I read it as well! I have seen so many people loving James lately and I'm glad you're finding it so masterful as well. My sister tried reading womb city and couldn't get past the first chapter with the writing style, and so I understand your review. And in the end I decided to remove it from my tbr wishlist. I haven't actually seen any reviews of when the moon hatched before but I didn't really have any interest in it... and it doesn't sound very balanced and like one I should skip.

I need to read more from Taylor Jenkins Reid 💛. Womb City was over ambitious and Chapter 1 already gives you an indication if that but I had a review copy and ploughed on 😅 When the Moon Hatched has such a high rating, it's considered a tik tok sensation

I noticed it the most after reading a really difficult but important book about homelessness. I read it when lots of stuff was happening in my life, I had just left my long-term relationship, there was stuff happening at work, and then I read this book. That's when I had a full week of not reading to just recalibrate, and the next books I read were all easy and light.
