    So therefore with 1.5 crop factor in relative to contrast ratio in proportion we can get the same preception to FF with 1.5xfactor decrease in contrast ratio. ( I hope my question phase properly about the relativity to contrast level to crop factor of I focus in preception to the overall Capture imagery)

    May I ask is that mean the ratio of contrast affecting what is perceiving in sharpest use. Meaning in translation in focus area ( DOF)

    we have lived in a post colonial world for a while now, so it’s hard to see the value in keeping the old stereotypes alive and promoting this kind of image making as a valid way for photography to be in the world. This video is a great example of the way westerners use people of color as the background scenery for white narratives. When critics say that photography isn’t neutral in things like objectification of the other, and promoting a colonial world view, etc videos like this are exactly what they are talking about. At this point it is impossible to parody Leica because the company has become a perfect parody of itself.

    Just a minor correction, onm the D-Lux 8 (unlike the Q3) you cannot export or import profiles. Not a problem at the moment as it’s the original firmware but I do hope that when they issue an update it does not delete all your profiles - I changed quite a few of mine having watched your video!

    Updating the firmware will not affect the SD card. You will lose any User Profiles you have saved, so best to save those to the SD card when prompted.

    Hola Nick desde Buenos Aires! I just bought my D-Lux 8 a couple of weeks ago and LOVE it, and your video really helps me with my settings! I have made my adjustments per your video and works great, so thank you! One question, in Scene Mode, the "Miniature Effect" or the "HDR" is not highlighted, and does not allow me to press it. What can I do to make work? Gracias Guillermo

    Very clear explanation! But.. His example of using jpeg for bird photography is a bit unfortunate. In wild-life photography you want the raw files because of dynamic range that is retrained in the raw files.You want that additional data for processing the images later.. yes there are lot of pictures to sort to, but you want that additional data!

    Thanks for the walkthrough! One question: Is there an option to quickly toggle between focal lengths? I assume there is not. But maybe it would be possible for you to suggest that to Leica for a firmware update. I imagine it like on the Q - System, where you can toggle between the (virtual) vocal lengths. In this case probably 24, 35, 50, 75mm. So when you see something and push the button three times, you know it will be at 50mm.

    Many thanks, Nick, for this excellent review. Seeing the D-LUX 8 as a major facelift of its predecessor Leica have worked on all major weaknesses, including the menu structure which appears so much more mature and intuitive. Although as a conscious user of zoom lenses I also miss the "step zoom" and "zoom resume" features I'll definitely upgrade to this model. I do trust a firmware update will bring these back.

  • @KemalMyktürk
    @KemalMyktürk11 күн бұрын

    excellent video explaining all the options. but why, for the love of god, did leica remove "step zoom" and "zoom resume" from the options? both were available on the d-lux 7, and are, for many photograpers, essential or "wesentlich". the one size fits all-approach does not work with a zoom lens camera. please bring these features back in a firmware update.

    There’s no doubt that this camera is a welcome addition to the Leica lineup Nick. As an ancient Q1 owner (myself and the Q!) I won’t consider buying one due the telescopic nature of the lens. The Digilux 2 had the perfect lens imho with its internal zoom…✌️🇦🇺
