Overflow was great at first when it was simple, but it has become worse over time. The added features often add very little functionality. For example they decided to add comments, great! But then they make sure that you can only use them after creating artboards which are annoying and timeconsuming...

question: at 17:11 for example, how do you do this presentation in overflow where you integrate your imported figma frames with the user flow that you earlier created? thanks in advance!
@paintpops Жыл бұрын
There is an Overflow plugin for Figma! Just select the frames you want to import in Figma, run the plugin while Overflow is open, and it will appear on your flow map. One thing to note is that if you want to just update a frame within Overflow, make sure the name of the frame in Figma and Overflow matches.

How many user flow diagrams should I make if I am just starting on a project. For example I am creating an ecommerce website. One is for onboarding experience. One is for checkout process. Should we create as many user flow diagrams as possible or we should make user flow diagrams for most important actions only?
@paintpops Жыл бұрын
I would start with the most important/major user stories, but it's also good practice to document the other flows as well so your team is aligned on how your product is used as a whole!

I used to love CH but I had to get rid of it because it was so hard to use. After an update, they made it so you were seeing random rooms as opposed to rooms with people you follow inside. You can’t search rooms or even see a list of all rooms possible to join. And some of the room titles are so problematic.

just binged your app critique vids, thanks, very useful, you're a great communicator and make it easy to follow along even when you're talking about more granular details is there a reason why you've moved to this framework of talking about each topic? have you had feedback that its too hard to follow in previous vids? ive got a critique later in the week and will likely use something similar to your approach in this vid, its easier to compartmentalise the critique as a whole
@paintpops2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, previously my critique videos were mainly focused on heuristics for some pages or features. But I think with a persona or task framework it'd help organize your thoughts more clearly to avoid rambling on during an interview!

I hadn't played Among Us before these accessibility updates took place so it's nice to know they reacted to community feedback! And Nintendo games are pretty notorious for poor UX. Not all around, of course, but it's never a surprise to me when something is too complicated, inaccessible, or not very diverse in a nintendo game. Loved your review, thanks!

Great video, thanks for sharing. For an app critique interview do I need to mention to the interviewer what framework will I be using?
@paintpops2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! You don't have to explicitly name the framework if you don't want to, but it'd be helpful to at least let the interviewer know how you plan to approach the critique. Whether you plan to critique from the perspective of a user or if you're trying to complete a specific task. This way the interviewer understands why you picked out specific elements of the app to comment on!

But did you find a job??? And how long? What was the pay scale and title?
@paintpops2 жыл бұрын
Yes I did find a job 2 months after graduating. I can probably cover pay scale and title in another video. That being said, enrolling in a bootcamp does not guarantee you a job. Obviously a lot of it depends on the student's own efforts and on the job market at the time as well. Before remote work became more normalized, for example, there would've been way more jobs available for people living in metropolitan areas compared to in less populated areas. At the height of the pandemic, there were also fewer locations willing to invest in junior designers, but I've seen more positions like that open up after I got a job. If you've had some relevant experience designing or project managing in the past, you may also fare better. As a student, you can also take on freelance gigs while job hunting so you have some actual work under your belt.

Thank you! I think at the height of the pandemic it was easier, but 70-80% of the listings that I'm seeing today are on-site. Of course, it also depends on where you are located. For junior designers, I can see the benefits of working on-site with a team for hands-on guidance.
