Battery is a 100 hrs unless out innthe wide open on inreach. To give you perspective I did a 5 day canoe trip on one iPhone charge in airplane mode. So they are similar. Add a juggernaut phone case and your phone ain't breaking. I prefer their watches. Battery life of over a month and can't lose it

  • @fifthtyp3

Case, battery bank, and phone in a battery save mode, and you're still well under the price of a garmin and that's not including the exorbitant monthly subscription fee the GPS companies charge.

"When I need to move fast and light and food needs to be quick". Nuts, apple, sandwich or the like. Then you do not cook or prepare food, you eat as you go in my mind. You only cook when you have spare time, and planned ahead to get that time. Nothing wrong with the setup though.

2:04, I personally prefer to wear puttees, or jackboots when hiking, because they don’t just keep out bugs, they also keep out water and mud. Much tighter too - they aren’t likely to have gaps or holes in them, or even come loose (unless the puttees you got aren’t of good quality, just find a tutorial to learn what good puttees look like).

I tuck pants into socks which then makes any footwear tick-proof (special boots not required). Caution about using/storing permethrin around cats: It's deadly for them.

also you can just wear short pants and get used to collecting some ticks from your legs every few minutes :D leg hair is useful too - they crawl into it and you can feel them usually (and staying in your heart, feeling over thinking is amazing in that case too - you can just feel their presence somehow and then usually the mind thinks there are more because you felt it :P )

I retired in 2022, and I can tell you the military doesn't teach any hacks for ticks. While they do have insect repellant, most unit supply don't go around advertising they have it, let alone hand them out without being told. Geesh, no regular infantry unit will allow you to tuck in your blouse out in the field. I agree permethrin is best. My favorite anti-tick hack is getting a full body massage after returning from the field.

Fom the land of mosquitos Im entitled to tell you that first becomes ticks and mosquitos, deer ticks are the ones that wakes right after snow melts carrying potential diseases. Mosquitos follows with the warming days swarming by legions after legions. Then when the summer is hot is time for the small blackflies and medium sized triangle and wolf flies and giant horse flies (different variations of flesh biting flies). After they have all devoured your blood during summer and fall is near and nights are getting dark and chill, then the moose flies kicks in and goes grawling into your back and head and dropping their wings. Only in the winter when below -20 farenheit there is no blood sucking sausage sucker alive and you may rest in peaces that are left behind of you. PS. Rapeseed oil is used against mosquitoes by lumberjacks here in Scandinavia. Works wonders at afterwork social gatherings as well. You should try that in military groups when the places are tight! You can become the high drilling officer!
