  It was funny the day my mix Shep Shiba was climbing up one of those gate dividers. I wouldn’t have thought it possible a straight up, no angle. The other time when he first came into our house. One of us sneezed. We were talking then said bless you and our little guy let out a mini howl., besides looking back and forth at us. Now he still howls, barks too. It’s funny when he howls and has the chew bone in his mouth. Mine looks a lot l8ke the one relaxing on that guy’s lap, Jimmy or Jimmie, except his tail isn’t super curled but definitely quite bushy. .

  I don’t think I could watch that kind of movie without tears either. Yea, I have to make orders seem like they’re his idea. I can call him back into the house but when he outright ignores me, for him, usually means he has to do a couple more things outside. He enjoys going after that squiggle ball too. I like when he does his howl after waking me up. He’ll pick up the bone and sometimes howl with it in his mouth. Funny. Sometimes sounds like a (muffled?) tuba sound.

  My Shiba is incredibly kind to both dogs and cats. He turns 5 in September. He often sits at the gate facing the street and most dogs that pass by always come forward and greet him. The neighbor's cat even jumps over the gate and goes in to him. He is a bit like Ferdinand the bull. Calm and safe.

  OMG, I was laughing so much at the first 3 minutes of this vid! I have littermates, a male and a female. My female is the pleaser, super smart, learns tricks and is much more friendly than her brother. My male is EVERYTHING Shiba … wants affection on HIS terms, knows his manners but only when he feels they are necessary (usually for treats), and couldn’t give a rat’s a$$ about being friendly, esp around other dogs. They have been this way since puppyhood and they are now almost 11YO. Both are extremely clean (my female is grooming ME as I watch this vid) and very healthy. And to me, I agree with the “females look softer” comment … I usually see a “delicate”-ness when I see females. Boys usually look a bit more “beefy”. But as you said, everything is in general. 😊

  My sweet angel has been having some health issues & when I have 2 give meds she will bite at my hand to “threat” if I try again she flashes her teeth. For example she’s having ear infections I’m struggling to resolve. She won’t allow me to clean her ears, put the medicine in ears, clean her paws. Other than these things she’s the most cuddly angel! How do I keep her from snapping at me?

  He’s still on the immunotherapy but the situation has improved dramatically now. The immunotherapy really helps for our case.

  I'm looking into getting a Shiba in the next year or so, and have been doing extensive research into them. i have mostly had cats, its been about a decade since i've owned a dog, and shibas seem like the best for my lifestyle. I've become a dog groomer, and through my experiences with a great many breeds, i absolutely adore the dramatics and personality of the shiba. your channel has been awesome for information, so thank you!

  I dog sitted my friend’s shiba and it’s so true about them being stubborn. Good thing is that he was food motivated. I would give him a treat or small piece of what I was eating and he would let me put on the harness around him.

  We kept the male shiba and sold his sisters. One of the females was definitely waaaaaay smarter than her brother. However, we kept the male because of his sweet personality. He is a super smart dog too, but not a genius dog like his sister was. It would have been fun to keep a dog that could be taught how to fetch and use the doggy door instantaneously at 4 weeks but our male is so good natured it outweighs any of that.

  Great video information! I like the look and personality of Shiba Inu, and almost got one. I reconsidered as that was a dog breed often stolen in the city where I live. I chose a chihuahua terrier golden lab mix (that’s what the info tag provided). I play videos often with Shiba Inu and now my dog acts like one. Too cute, and he has become a handful.

  Our little girl definitely is picky about where she goes to relieve herself, and she has NEVER rolled in the dirt. I have to be careful where I stand so she doesn't kick dirt up on me after she goes.

  I saved a Shiba.Inu's live one year ago and he decided to stay with me. I've never had a dog before. He was born wild and lived wild for 8 years. I never tought him anything, not to sit or to stay or anything else. He does not know any command. But he understands what I want and does it. It all is functioning on co-operation. And this functions very well.

  Jimmy is mildly interested and amused. Such a calm and measured gentleman! My Miko shakes with anticipation and almost explodes of eagerness when you throw the ball. He has no self control!
