We are retired and we live in a rural area. We have solar panels on our roof. PHEV suits our lifestyle. We dont like getting stung for fuel whilst we are touring or going on holiday and when at home we need to get into town and back on electrical power provided by the solar panels on our roof. We dont need a big car and we do need a car which costs nowt to run locally. This seems to tick the boxes. We've had Toyotas before and have enjoyed trouble free motoring with them. So..... we will wait for this model to start appearing on the second hand market since we never buy new!

PS: With home charging the public infrastructure is almost irrelevant for 90% of drivers, however the rapid growth of high power CCS rapid charges along the motorway network in the past 18months has been impressive. Ireland is a small island so planning is no longer necessary for anybody with a brain cell.
@oceanfroggie2 күн бұрын
Yes M6, M7, M11, M9 now well served with high power CCS mini-hubs. M1 is a problem at weekends. The M7 has 48 CCS chargers along its length with in a few years that will probably be 150 such is the rate of expansion. More and more hotels and work place car parks have AC destination charge points. Ireland is a small island with short distances so ideal for BEV. Most 3rd and 4th gen BEV can cross the country on a single charge with ease. Same day return trips require two 15mins CCS high power charger stops (eg one half way to Galway and one on the return leg later that day). Dublin to Killarney no problem anymore. Gone are the days of 12 years ago when early adopters were hobbled with the inconvenience and poor range of the early Nissan Leafs which put a generation of people off EVs such was the misery they caused. Nowadays it's just drive it like a diesel. Having the ability to charge at home is a vital ingredient to making it economically viable and convenience wise.

Good but still not good enough, especially with this outdated 1.6 engine which is very noisy at higher speeds. Could be better if offered with the 1.0 lt turbo engine but I guess this would be costly although even this one is not considered budget anymore. However, nice design.

i want this one but it only comes in 4x2 and i do go offroad and on the mountain often so a bigger heavier car without 4x4 makes no sense for me ... this is splendid for anyone who barely goes off the asphalt, just not for the niche of people that use an SUV in places an SUV is supposed to actually be used ... so if they mix the hybrid with the 4x4 or at least at the facelift mark or maybe bring a more powerful TCe on the table i'm considering it, for now the fact that they moved from the 1.3 TCe 150hp to 1.2 TCe 130cp makes me hold on because looking at this i don't see myself buying the duster 2 facelift ... i don't need an automatic as i barely drive in the city so it's not a nuisance i actually enjoy the manual ... also i'm not picky but the 1.2 is noisy and annoying at 130km/h highway speeds and you have to go 110, which tends to get annoying and the 1.3 150cp one was finally decent and they remove it :facepalm
