Welcome to my YT-channel! The main focus here is high quality knives and axes from makers all over the world. I try to alternate between simple overviews, reviews, in-detail/full reviews and comparisons of different kinds.

    The sheaths (or plastic containers) are useful for when you want to throw these tools into a pack, though the collapsible belt loop is useful as well. They prevent the saw from opening and snagging/cutting other objects inside your pack. The BigBoy gets a different pouch because you aren't likely to stow it away inside a pack, but rather attach it to the outside using cordage or carabiner.

    Thank you for your hard work in demonstrating the effectiveness of the Silky Outback line of saws. I just purchased the Big Boy saw and it's quite a treat see it put through a true test of it's capabilities. You truly worked those saws to their potential! Thanks again for the video!

    I have a problem I'm hoping someone might help with, or maybe an opinion. I love the Orpheus and almost hit the buy now button, but I decided to take a look around just to make sure I'm spending quite a but of money on the right knife. Doing that, I discovered the We Knives OAO Integral Limited Edition. They are both beautiful and I've found both good and not so good reviews on both. I am torn. I really wish I could buy both, but then I might have to get divorced. Or possibly sell one of the kids. Lol jk. Any advice or honest opinion? Assuming you have held them both. I was also looking at the Magnetron, which is also very nice and about $100 less, but I think the integral frame is well worth the extra. Thanks.

  • @PinkG10
    @PinkG102 ай бұрын

    Hi! First off, I do not have any personal experience with the WE Knife OAO. I've ofc seen several photos and videos of it, but I decided that it was not for me, personally. Pure personal preferences. I'm sure the knife is indeed both good in terms of design, fit & finish, build quality and performance, but it's just not for me. The Orpheus, on the other hand, is def. up my alley. I don't think I've seen a single negative review of the Orpheus, and I'm not sure what the cons would be. To me, it's more or less perfect, which is why I decided to get all five versions of it. I think you need to go with your feeling on this one, i.e which designs speaks the most to you. If you go with that feeling, you'll not go wrong - regardless of which model you pick. Oh, and the Magnetron is a really nice knife too! It may not be an integral, but it's truly fantastic and one of my favorites along side the Orpheus. It's a beefier knife than both the Orpheus and the OAO, though, for better or worse depending on your preferences. Best of luck in your deciding process!

    Thank you for those encouraging words! I guess the combination of having less time than usual to make videos, more knives and axes than usual to show, and also the ever-present feeling that my English skills are lacking, messes things up. But like you said, it's probably best to just go with the flow, make some videos and show the knives to the best of my ability as well as giving some honest opinions about them. I'm glad I'm not getting stuff for free or doing paid work, that would be stressfull. Looking at the amounts I spend on these knives and axes can be stressfull too, though. ;) And I promise to not buy all the upcoming knives from Maxace. I'm a bit confused why I haven't seen the Manticore, black coated timascus Titanis and some other models at Lamnia. I do know for a fact they were on order. Right now, the Maxace Orion is on my radar. That's one I'll def. pick up. I hope they'll release a fancier version of it later at some point. Oh, and the Hela may be a bit too over the top even for me. Even though it's kind of cool, heh!

    I prefer to buy Western knives from Western makers, and Japanese knives from Japanese makers. I find when they try to cross over (either way) the results are usually just.... off in some way.

  • @PinkG10
    @PinkG102 ай бұрын

    I get what you're saying, and it would seem only logical/rational to agree with your statement, i.e that Japanese makers should focus on Japanese designs only and western knife makers on western designs - doing what they (should) know/do best. But I can't stand behind that to 100%, given my personal experience. Sure, there're designs that can look and/or feel off, but there're also examples when it's in fact the complete opposite. Still, I fully understand what you're saying and where you're coming from.

    I agree with that statement when it comes to forging and what steels they use and the process of making the knives. A western blade smith trying to replicate Japanese forging never works well. Where this differs in my opinion is it’s a western knife maker using western materials and blade steel and all they did was use a Japanese “style” design for its functionality

    Thank you, Dean. I guess this is more of an overview than an actual review. I also just realized that I haven't really made a real review of the Kitsune yet. I think I'll make a more in-depth review when I get my second run Kitsunes, and then I can also compare them to the first production runs. The Tengu is going to be a real monster! I wonder when we'll see it, though ... Once again, thank you for dropping by and leaving a comment!

    Production quality of this video is top notch! Very well done. You did a nice job of displaying this knife. I'm looking forward to the Tengu 3V version and placed a pre-order for it. I certainly hope I don't have to wait as long as you.

  • @PinkG10

    Thank you, Chris! Like I mentioned in the video, this video was super spontaneous. My problem lately is that I think too much about which videos to make, how to organize them etc. and end up recording nothing at all. Sometimes it's better to just go with your feeling and record something and publish it. I want perfect photos taken and this and that and what not. I should just focus on getting stuff out the door, heh! But I'm happy with the new "studio", it makes a lot of my work much easier than before. And like I replied to Dean here in the comment section; the Tengu is going to be a real monster. I've no real idea when it's going to be released though - but def. in less than four years, lol!

    The length of your videos is not the issue. You talk to much on simple tests, i mean you did a paper video test for a lot of time, cut 2 pages and move on, its paper. Be efficient.

  • @PinkG10
    @PinkG102 ай бұрын

    I mean, I do make chapters for a reason. When you feel you've seen enough cutting of paper, just skip to the next chapter or, better yet, just watch the final conclusions-part. Or whichever parts interest you/your practical needs the most. My biggest issue with these old videos of mine is the black background distoring the light and making the videos almost unwatchable ...

  • @PinkG10
