I think the Ziffius is one of the most beautiful and perfectly executed folders to come out in years. Scored the black titanium/chidori flame/satin blade variant and I can't stop holding and admiring it. 7 out of 5 stars all day.

Beautiful knives. The Ziffius i have has the anodized titanium on the handle, but the satin blade. By the way, i just wanted to point out that the finish on the titanium is not flamed. This is Entropic Anodization, some call it Lightning or Storm Ano. WE actually has a finish they've called Flame for years now. That is not polished like these are, and has alternating lines in like a stripe or jagged pattern. That is done with electrical anodizing. With a DC power supply and electrolytic solution. This finish on the Ziffius is done by first putting a high polish on the titanium, heating it with a propane or map gas torch, then dropping it in a solution of Ferric Chloride. That's the simple explanation, getting the color you want, and a consistent pattern spacing involves several factors and more time. Anyway, personally i really liked the Ziffius, way more than the Exciton. I reacted the same as you did. I was very hopeful that WE Knives were going back to their old ways of making very interesting and beautiful knives, that also didn't have only 3.48" and smaller blades. The Reiver was what really got me to pay attention to WE again. Before that, they hadn't made any blades longer than 3.5" for a long time, they all had stamped titanium pocket clips (the same ones), and no backspacers but only barrel standoffs. I have purchased many WE knives now this year, and before that i had dropped down to only one or two a year. I hope they continue, and i agree with you, i really love the Magnetron and the Orpheus.

Both great looking knives. Imo damasteel has more contrast when the blades are less polished and just looks better. I don't know why everyone polishes it so much. The Begg steelcraft field marshal made by reate has some of the best looking damasteel in a non custom knife and is a good example of less polished damasteel.

Beautiful knife for sure! and i 100% agree with here 7:55 the knife would've looked way more better if they went with damascus. i'm still hesitant to wither buy this one or the Exciton one, hard for me to judge the damasteel Exciton bcuz i haven't seen any reviews about it yet.

Timascus looks great, especially for specific parts of a folding knife; like an integral backspacer, pocket clip and pivot collar. I'm, as I stated in the video, not a very big fan of flamed titanium at all. It's not that it looks bad, but it looks "too much and all over the place" in some sense. Timascus looks 100x times better, imho. These knives are not cheap, but flamed titanium is not really a premium material at all. I'd rather have them use timascus and pay $150 extra for it (the knife is already expensive as is). I don't like the Heimskringla Damasteel used for the Excition. I much rather prefer Hakkapella Damasteel, as used for the Ziffius. Just my personal preferences. I do think the Exciton looks nice, but I don't like the three (3) holes in the handle. But I'll probably get one regardless. It looks like a nice knife. WE Knife is finally making some interesting folders again!

Great review and beautiful knives. Bought a couple of the stormed, but not the damasteel versions. Trying to save a bit for Blade Show.

I'd like to pick up the satin blade versions as well. I'm also tempted to pick up the Exciton, but I do prefer the overall design of the Ziffius over the Exciton (handle and blade). Btw. I got a second Titanis w/ mirror polish yesterday. I think I have a problem, but I seriously love that folder!
