I believe your idea of classic rock and my own are far removed from each other. First of all any band that has emerged since say 1980 would consist of members who would be insufferable, self righteous left wing pukes. Yes most of the bands that I consider to be classic would also have been left wing back in the day but the left of 1975 bears no resemblance to the left of the past 25 years. In fact I was left then as well but didn't know it nor cared that I didn't. A perfect example would be Green Day. A band with a few decent songs but absolutely no common sense. I never conflate the bands of recent classic rock vintage with the machs of yesteryear. For good reason in my opinion. I do not ask myself would I like having a beer with them because I know that within seconds of sitting down to enjoy said beer they would be wearing it and I would be being pummeled by members of their entourage. Just some thoughts. I do enjoy watching your videos, although you confuse me since I figure we are about the same age?
I love The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, YES, King Crimson, ELP, The Rolling Stones, The Eagles, Elton John, Rod Stewart and the Faces, and many others. Most of the ones you mentioned other than LZ not so much. I also think Metallica is pretty good, I am not a huge fan of theirs but I like some of their songs such as Enter Sandman and Master of Puppets. I also like Aerosmith's mostly 70s music and Bad Company - some of their music. A band I'm not crazy about is Queen. I like only a few songs of theirs. I know that is sacrilege to Queens' fans.
I’ll get hammered for this, but the Grateful Dead would be near the top of the list for me. I couldn’t imagine a worse time than waking up sober at a Dead concert. People get blasted out of their minds at their concerts for a reason. “Bring me the head of Jerry Garcia, he plays guitar like diarrhea”.
I agree with all of them, yeh i like zep too but you're right, funnily enough your next video suggestion, Queen, I can't stand Brian May, I don't like mediocre riffy rock music in general, I'm a 70's Hawkwind fan, Rush, Floyd, Supertramp, Genesis, something different. Good video.
Out of the Basic Four (Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep) I like Zeppelin the least. They are great performers, masters of their craft, but song-wise... Naaah I don't know.
Got tickets for 2 Quo gigs this summer. Still love them.
Oasis music sounds like 2 forklifts having a fight in a scrapyard.
Led Zeppelin and Lennon are passable, the rest are utter shite.
I’d throw in U2 and Metallica.
The Foo Fighters? If Nike had an in house band.
Agree 100%
I agree
Agree 100% on all counts! Well done. I agree with the poster who said U2 as well.
Queen, overrated overhyped pap.
Early stuff 78-81ish, brilliant, Tubeway Army, Pleasure Principle, Replicas, Telekon. Sorry, but for me loving sythns, it's got worse and worse, heavier and heavier. m/e does a Numan stare! :) Cheers!
Took out all my original post, arguing or agreeing with you. I think everyone you've mentioned, a singles/greatest hits of each artist/group are more appropriate. Then you can get more into whichever one. Except Def Lep, couldn't care at all for them. But these days, I don't think many people buy the first lp and stick with any group. All streaming b0llocks at your fingertips in seconds, all instantly "throwaway" stuff. Not like when you read in NME, or Melody Maker about a new group that got rave reviews, so you went out and bought it in your local indiependant record shop.
Rolling stones superestimados . Sin brian sin originalidad. Keith Richards le copio a los guitarristas negros despues le robo a ry cooder. Malisimos.
I was 15 when this came out and had been saving birthday money so I could get it the day it was released. I couldn't count the number of times I have listened to this album.
John lennon and led zeppelin are music icons so i dont understand this muppet at all.
"Bands I should love"....interesting title. I think alot of people say their a fan of a band because they're so popular. Almost like they're afraid to say they don't. The Beatles come to mind. "You don't like the Beatles! What the hell is wrong with you!" 😂 Oh well....I thought Star Wars was lame. I've gotten s**t over that! 😢😅
Never much liked John Lennon solo and much preferred Paul McCartney when he was in Wings... Never liked Def Leppard ever, zero records owned from them... Same goes for Bon Jovi and Oasis, zero interest... Bought the 'Nevermind' record when it came out in '91 and haven't played it in 30 years with zero desire to... Pearl Jam maybe a few songs but by "Vitology" in 94 that was it, overall much preferred Soundgarden and AiC during that period... couldn't care less about The Red Hot Chili Peppers and just never "got it"... maybe a song by Radiohead but it wasn't for me... a random song or two by G'n'R but never really got that either... do like a few songs by the Foo Fighters but other than that were no big deal.
I think I agree with you.
Ian Gillan can still sing the quiet parts of deep purple songs if he breaths correctly but he cant screem now
I never cared for Dylan or Van Morrison apart from a few exceptions. Both have awful singing voices too
Frank Zappa was always a "liberal" opposed to the far right and the right wing in general. He wouldn't have cancelled anyone but he wouldn't shy away from calling the right religious nuts, fascists and now actual Nazi's.
Betty and the Buttercups / Glug / Guess where I am / Yesterday was a Sunny Day / Complete Change of Blood / Constantinople / My Vasectomy / The Beatles / The Malefactors / Some of the People Some of the Time.
Most overrated ever: David Bowie. Also Zep & U2. Awful: Oasis, all Brit Pop, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Guns N Roses.
Never understood why people would watch a channel they profess to hate? It makes no sense at all.
“Mother” by The Police is an odd song yes, however I don’t mind it and it’s kind of funny to listen to. 😅👍
I can go with quite a bit of what you're saying...a lot of overlap in my thoughts on quite a few counts, but Led Zeppelin. You need to check your head, mate. 😊 All said with affection. We like what we like... P.S. one other thing: I immersed myself in Use Your Illusion I & II last summer, having not been able to stand Axl Rose back in the day. I have to say there is an awful lot to enjoy on them, despite the whole thing being rather overblown...
I agree with all the bands you mention, i just cant find as much positive to mention like you 😅
You forgot Metallica
Totally agree about Oasis. After the first couple of albums they just cranked the handle!
I agree . . . except for John Lennon and Led Zep. I would add Dave Matthews Band, The Cars
I'm 74 so I have some opinions on this music. Stuff like Def Leopard, Foreigner...it's just so much crap.
Radiohead are one of those bands that believes it’s ok hype.
Everyone gets older and things we did as youngsters not as easy to do as we age! Rock singing probably the hardest thing to maintain which is a reality! Brian Johnson Lou Gramm Elton John Axl Jon Bon Jovi and i suspect Bruce Dickinson eventually will struggle to reach those high notes at some time!
the 90s were crap, simple as that.
Don't like Zeppelin? Have you tried playing it backwards?
I respect Jimmy Page for his work with the Yardbirds. There's a bootleg here on KZread of him doing Dazed & Confused with that band worth seeking out. Plant has great tone and a soulful voice that was wrecked by the shrieks he for some reason did in the studio. Sounds much better with Led Zep live. Or anything since like Tall Cool One 🤟
"going Mobile" off Who's Next.
Nirvana is just borderline unlistenable for me.
U2 is not on the list? Should be.
In almost every case he proceeds to say all of their first album was great. Then you must've liked them right? Led Zep is loaded with good tunes though throughout.
And who cares?
The Who
Phenomenal clickbait inc 5/6 of the greatest acts of all time. A few of my overrated acts Zappa Iron Maiden Kiss Arctic Monkeys Journey Wet Leg Libertines Strokes Def Leppard Sprinsteen Crazy Horse
The Beatles wrote great songs, that pretty much everyone else performed better. I can think of like MAYBE two songs that their version is better.
Agree… especially on Pearl Jam
Love your channel, but apparently a lot of your viewers have terrible taste in music.
