    I agree about the Typhoons, the problem is they aren't always predicted well. Odette was supposed to be a tropical storm that would hit Cebu, then 1 dar later it was a Cat 1, and then 1 more day and it was a Super typhoon, which hit where I live in Talisay head on. Did ALOT of damage. So predicted to be a tropical storm but was actually a Super typhoon. Anyway, historically Cebu gets less typhoons than Manila or Mindanao.

    Agree, have to keep our eyes peeled to the East and judge for ourselves based on Odette.

    Hey Chris! The International License is actually a good idea as it is valid for one year from the date of purchase and it is like $25.00 USD at AAA. It beats a 90 timeframe and gives you extra time to get that Philippine license.

    As far as I know, there is one thing to be aware of - your International Licence is not a standalone document, but is valid in connection with your US, or where ever you are from, licence. If your US licence expires next week, for example, your IL is invalid as well...

    Fantastic views of this ride and looking forward to seeing the tour of Bantayan Island. It looks like your camera is that 360 camera with the hidden selfie stick--I think that's where the "wobble" is coming from due to it being at the end of that long stick. Can you rotate the views while riding (maybe with a remote) or are you doing those in post-edit? Also, how are you getting to include the front view looking at you head on? Is that with another camera?

    Nice ride and thanks for the video. Am sure you noticed the slope numbers were jumping so much, probably due to the camera bouncing so much. You don't notice it in the video since the image stabilization is working so well. On the real steep descent it was bouncing between 32 and 11 percent (@ 10:49), so it was probably at least a 20 percent grade. Not real sure thats just a guess. Nice video images though, especially 6:27, 8:46. Looks like some rain at 9:21 also. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to check out that highway. Would really like to find some farmland up there in the mountains with some good neighbors. Have a good one, Mary Rose and Chris...Jim

    Thanks for sharing. I think the ₱1000 ($16.97) van ride for six people with a stop at Mang Inasal is already a good deal. Haggling it down to ₱900 ($15.27) to save ₱100 ($1.70) is negligible. That amounts to savings of only ₱16.67 ($0.28) per person. That's in an aircon van instead of on a trike. I don't get it. $1.70 ($0.28 per person) is very insignificant for westerners but very valuable for the locals who are working hard to eke out a living.

  • @CarefreeChris
    @CarefreeChris8 күн бұрын

    I understand. I flip back and fourth. Some folks argue we need to stop overpaying and don't settle for the skin tax. The same ride back was less than 800 Pesos for reference. My stance is if I know how much something costs I'm going to pay that amount. For example I'm not going to pay 1 dollar for water when I know it costs $.50 a block away. I'll walk a block or go without. I see both sides of the argument but lean towards rejecting the skin tax

  • @adventureneverstops
    @adventureneverstops8 күн бұрын

    @@CarefreeChris So how much did you end up paying and what type of vehicle was it that eventually transported the group to the hotel with the same stop at Mang Inasal? The point is that you were willing to pay ₱900 total for six people in a van that would have saved each one a mere $0.28. Was it really worth it to haggle for such a miniscule amount just so you folks could feel good about being able to neutralize the perceived "skin tax?" If you folks are so paranoid about it, then why even live there to begin with?
