Thanks for sharing. I think the ₱1000 ($16.97) van ride for six people with a stop at Mang Inasal is already a good deal. Haggling it down to ₱900 ($15.27) to save ₱100 ($1.70) is negligible. That amounts to savings of only ₱16.67 ($0.28) per person. That's in an aircon van instead of on a trike. I don't get it. $1.70 ($0.28 per person) is very insignificant for westerners but very valuable for the locals who are working hard to eke out a living.
@CarefreeChris8 күн бұрын
I understand. I flip back and fourth. Some folks argue we need to stop overpaying and don't settle for the skin tax. The same ride back was less than 800 Pesos for reference. My stance is if I know how much something costs I'm going to pay that amount. For example I'm not going to pay 1 dollar for water when I know it costs $.50 a block away. I'll walk a block or go without. I see both sides of the argument but lean towards rejecting the skin tax

@@CarefreeChris So how much did you end up paying and what type of vehicle was it that eventually transported the group to the hotel with the same stop at Mang Inasal? The point is that you were willing to pay ₱900 total for six people in a van that would have saved each one a mere $0.28. Was it really worth it to haggle for such a miniscule amount just so you folks could feel good about being able to neutralize the perceived "skin tax?" I agree about the Typhoons, the problem is they aren't always predicted well. Odette was supposed to be a tropical storm that would hit Cebu, then 1 dar later it was a Cat 1, and then 1 more day and it was a Super typhoon, which hit where I live in Talisay head on. Did ALOT of damage. So predicted to be a tropical storm but was actually a Super typhoon. Anyway, historically Cebu gets less typhoons than Manila or Mindanao.
