Secondly, you can already do this in any large pot or pan with enough shaking. $200? $200! 200, 2 with 2 0s, while every similar product costs 30. That's so funny.

    This might be the one. My biggest complaint for the previous ones (especially the ones with a plastic bowl) is cleaning. This one looks like it’s a cinch to clean. Especially when you have to clean it the next day…with all that old oil you have to…no NEED to clean. Worth the money. A lot of money. But it’s better built than the previous failures. And I’ve tried them all. I’m buying one from ABC’s GMA Deals And Steals this morning

    Yes! I am very familiar that the whirly pop does make a stainless steel format or version. But that the problem I’m told, is that the stainless steel is plated between aluminum. And that therefore you cannot wash the kettle or the popper itself in the dishwasher. Even though the popper itself is not aluminum and is all stainless steel, the issue is you have a wooden crank and a wooden handle. The wooden parts tend to work their way loose if you put them in the dishwasher. As for the kettle itself, that cannot go in the dishwasher because at the bottom of the pot on the outside or kettle if you will, you have a small indentation or lip, that where the aluminum is exposed. Stainless steel in itself will not rust or corrode in the dishwasher But aluminum on the other hand will. The only thing I like about the whirly pop, is that 25 year warranty something pop Smith must have if they want to compete. Just having a product that is just 100% stainless steel is not enough in this industry. You need to have a warranty equal to your competitors! I know this, because I love clad quality cookware. And even though it’s clad quality cookware, the one year warranty is just what is turning me away from purchasing a pop Smith, if they had a 25 year warranty like the whirly pop I definitely would purchase one no questions asked! I have a stainless steel whirly pop myself and I love it! I just can’t put it in the dishwasher. Hope that this is helpful to you.

    You make a case for a much superior popper than the whirly pop. The only reason why I have a whirly pop, is that the company offers a 25 year warranty! You have only a one year warranty. I liked the fact, that you can put the entire popper in the dishwasher and the fact that this can be used on any burner, including induction burners. If I remember right, so can the other popper. It may be, that the temperature of the induction burner has to be set at medium, instead of medium high. I can double check this tomorrow and then I could email you on your website. I emailed you on your website earlier, because I had some additional questions. I know about Wabash Valley Farms and how the whirly pop started. However, I am interested in how Pop Smith got started. I know that there was a kick starter video for crowd funding. The Wabash Valley Farms started, is the grandfather of the current CEO, Don Posniak, hopefully I’m spelling her name right her grandfather started farming back in the late 1950s. That’s when Wabash Valley Farms came into place. About 15 or 16 years later back in 1973 or 74, his son, Mike Williams started farming the land continuing to grow popcorn. And in 1980, he patented the first whirly pop, because he started growing popcorn first for commercial use and then for residential use. he took an existing stove top popper at the time, and made it better. I love clad cookware myself, because I am a culinary connoisseur! However, I think that might’ve slipped their minds back in 1980. I bet that you know popcorn farmers in Iowa and Missouri, or is it Idaho in Missouri? what I heard about farmers, is that they just love a tinker, which is how the whirly pop came about as well. He had to rent space at the Chicago Home and houseware show. And that therefore, the popper took off ever since! I was also wondering if the popper comes in a red color, because I love red color! Whirly Pop has a stove top popper with a patented stirring mechanism. And that there are gears that which intern, turn the mechanism inside. does your popper have gears? My particular popper, has metal gears, even though there are some with nylon gears, that which can easily strip. The middle gears are much better! Also, where is the Whorley pop made and that where is the pop Company out of? I wish I would’ve known about your product five or six months ago. But once again, that the issue I have, is only the one year warranty that which you offer, versus the whirly pop, that which offers a 25 year warranty. That is my only Reservation and concern. Other than that, I love what you have to offer! I think both you and Wabash Valley Farms are the greatest! The whirly pop I have is stainless steel, but it has an aluminum core, particularly on the kettle. I don’t know if the lid itself is stainless steel. But it certainly feels like it is . If I’m asking so many questions and making a long winded comment, it’s because I am on a very limited income, due to having multiple disabilities. Furthermore, I am blind that which is just one of those disabilities. I know aluminum cannot go in the dishwasher. I learned that the hard way. Aluminum will rust and corrode, stainless steel will not! So that part I get, once again, what’s stopping me, is that you only offer a one year warranty. I thank you in advance for your understanding and I appreciate what you’re doing.

    Its popcorn not rocket science. You really don't need the gimmicky turning handle thingy. I have been making popcorn on my stove top for years without the whirly pop. I use a (drum roll please) 2 quart saucepan I bought at IKEA over ten years ago. Here's how. Ingredients: 1/3 cup popcorn 1/4 teaspoon salt Vegetable oil Process: 1) Into a preheated saucepan on mediumish low heat (it depends on your stove) pour enough oil to evenly coat all of the kernels in the bottom of the saucepan. Only add three unpopped kernels and leave them (and only them) until they pop. 2) Add the salt and popcorn and leave the lid just slightly off of the pan. Swirl once to coat the popcorn. 3) Leave it be. Really, just leave it be. No, don't walk away, but don't touch it either. 4) Once the popping has slowed until there is only one pop every eight seconds or so turn off the heat. Now wait a bit until the random last pops happen and pour into a really big bowl. Or you can spend $40.00 - $50.00 (or more) for a gadget you only use once every so often, but then forget about and let gather dust in the back of your cupboard.

    Okay, I am going to help all of you... friendly nice people who are clearly intelligent and charming... This item can indeed pop your popcorn. But please don't buy it. You probably have a range top stove. You most likely have a soup pot of some sort. I even bet you have pot holders. You literally already have everything you need to make popcorn on your stove top. Okay, instead of telling you why why buying a fancy yellow 'whirly pop' is an idiotic choice I will simply tell you how to do everything this device does with what you already own. What you need: -1 half gallon to gallon sized pot. -Pot holders. -Measuring spoons. Recipe REGULAR POPCORN -1/4 teaspoon salt, the finer the grind the better but any salt will do. -1/4 cup popcorn. -2 Tablespoons oil. In the cold pot place the oil and three kernels of popcorn. Cover with the top. You will need to fiddle with your temperature controls the first few time to burn the corn. I set my temp to the second dot. Your oven will vary. After the three kernels of popcorn have popped take them out and add the rest of the popcorn kernels. Cover with the top. Now in your head sing the verse from the 'Staying Alive' song by the Bee Gees (this is super important). When ever the song goes 'Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive' shake the pot. Repeat. Listen to hear when the popping slows and turn off the heat. DON'T wait for all of the popping to stop. That is a strategy for burning your popcorn. KETTLE CORN -1/4 teaspoon salt. the finer the grind the better but any salt will do. -2 Table spoons sugar. -1/4 cup popcorn. -2 Tablespoons oil. Use the same process as above. KETTLE CORN WITH BROWN SUGAR -1/4 teaspoon salt. the finer the grind the better but any salt will do. -two table spoons packed brown sugar -1/4 cup popcorn. -1 Tablespoons oil. -1table spoon melted butter. Again use the same procedure except wait to add the butter until the three kernels have popped. The oil will spit, be warned. Add the popcorn and proceed as described above. Keep a keep nose for sugar that is burning. It is really easy to do so experiment with temperature control. I literally make popcorn almost daily. I actually use my soup pot more for popcorn that soup. I am sure this product will make popcorn, but why spend the money?

Its a gadget. An expensive one at that that only does one thing. I mean unless you are selling your popcorn maker with a regular top that does not have a handle. But even if it does you can still do everything that fancy yellow whirly pop does with a a pot purchased almost anywhere else. Good luck to your business venture. To all of the consumers out there. nowhere in the video does it explain why this is better than a stainless steel Whirly Pop? Is it just the fancier look. Does the stirring mechanism have some mechanical advantage over the though-the-handle style? Does it pop faster?

  • @ilovepopsmith
    @ilovepopsmith Жыл бұрын

    Hi, the key differences are that the Popsmith has a multi clad metal bottom for better heat distribution, which is key to cooking sweet popcorn successfully. Also our patented stirring mechanism ensures all the kernels are tumbled around and in constant motion, resulting in a better cook and greater yield. The whirley has two skinny rods at the bottom that dont move the pre-popped kernels around.

  • @berighteous
    @berighteous Жыл бұрын

    I doubt it. The turning mechanism is different, but essentially it like a Whirley Pop. My Whirley pops nearly every kernel every time in only a few minutes. To me, If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Looks nice, though.

    @@ilovepopsmith Or you could use a soup pot with the same multi clad bottom and skip the whirly pop entirely. This is kinda like those expensive egg slicers that nobody actually uses. Dust collectors.

    This is a bad campaign strategy. You’ve achieved As-Seen-On-TV Shill Vibe but you have a high-end cookware price point. Gross.

    You know what they say, Daniel... If you don't have anything nice to say, eat more popcorn.

    @@ilovepopsmith So true... My mom also taught me to take the time to evaluate my purchases and determine if they were something that would bring value to my life or take up space. Can I made do with what I already have and if so don't buy something else. Always ask yourself, 'do I really need this?' Marie Kondo taught me to think, 'does this item bring joy?' Alton brown taught me to not buy uni-taskers as they will clutter up my limited kitchen space. And finally Jiffy-pop taught me how to make popcorn on the stove top with out a 'fancy whirly pop.' I just don't think buying a kitchen toy that does one thing (admittedly quite well) will bring anyone more joy than making do with what they already have and learning ow to make popcorn in their own kitchen tools. Especially when your toy makes people think they need a super unique specialized tool to do what they can do with the items they already own.
