In my experience, a lot of the info doesn’t line up with how owning a GCC has been. My turquoise mutation green cheek was $800 and I spent another 200 on toys in addition to the many toys and perches I already had. A correctly sized flight cage is minimum $800. Your initial vet visit will be about $100. You’re looking at around $1,000 if you’re providing the correct care but that also depends on the mutation. I don’t believe any bird is low maintenance but GCCs definitely require more than one hour a day of attention to thrive. Mine is out of the cage any time that am near him. They may be easier to care for than larger birds, but birds are high maintenance pets. I’m just worried that people will get the idea that they are easy pets and take on more than they were expecting.

Male cockatiels _do_ talk. Yeah, not the clearest, but they will "here kitty kitty kitty" pretty clearly. And they will definitely mimic whistles. They sing. ... unlike an African Gray or something, the males are _much_ more mimicy than the females. Definitely not a super loud parrot, but they often get excited in the morning and start going through their vocalization repertoire. Once they trust you, they are really very sweet little parrots. They love head scritchins

As a Double Yellow Headed Amazon owner, I totally agree. I've known Charlie since about 1995, and have had him full time for about 6 years. His personality can fill a room, and quickly take over the spotlight in any situation. I've even had him with me when a popular comedian was around, and he stole the show from him, of which the comedian appreciated. The other side to that is their intelligence and their ability to manipulate any situation to their liking. Luckily for me, I am a very stubborn person and can counter that, and he well knows it, and we sorta have a mutual respect for each other. But if you are even mildly a push over, be prepared to have a hellish pet. I love Charlie and I wouldn't trade him for the world. He goes on the boat with me, and many other places.. But with that said, I'd never do it again. Everything you do in life has to revolve around him to some degree and it's quite the task. You can't just leave them in a cage or their noise will make your life hell. Just know what you are getting into, really with any bird as they are all tenacious to a degree, but the Amazons are tenacity experts.

80 percent of the parrot food end up on the floor. Feeding parrots is way way more expensive than feeding a dog or a cat.

My inside green cheek doesn't shut up...talks alot..and I mean alot. He can talk so many words and knows the context. Everything you have said is the opposite. FYI, I have 5 gcc's and 4 princess parrots and the green cheeks are by far loud and love fruit, seed and anything new and exciting.

My starter parrot was a Jardine's Parrot. He was funny, affectionate, chatty, not at all loud. Only he didn't like men, for some reason, and he began to adopt a John Wayne -ish stomp while stalking my son. 😂

Dude, your videos are awesome. Why have you stopped posting? Hope everything is ok in real life. You are really good at this and should get back to producing parrot videos. I don't think you completed your goal of EVERY parrot (393ish?) reviewed. I'm new to parrots and I'm doing serious research, now get back to work, lol. Seriously, it would be nice to see you making videos again. The last one was dated a year ago. Best wishes.

The yellow ones live mostly in flat country along inland rivers while crimson ones live further up the hills & valleys. I live where their territories overlap and we often see hybrid crosses in various shades of pink and orange.
