My two are not cuddly although my Yellow nape is. My female is half wild rescue . I suspect she may have been poached as a baby from the local wild breeding flock.it’s a long story. My male is hand tame but does not accept touching anything but his feet. Both birds say Parrot. Hello. Michael. Such a cute parrot. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qmGjsqZ7qtK2Z8Y.html

I’ve got an 11 month old boy and I love him! He’s super cuddly and has bonded to me very quickly. He also does not wake me up in the mornings so I love him even more for that. Definitely an amazing upgrade from having cockatiels all my life.

What a lovely, insightful video :) My grandmother got an Amazon back in the eighties and as you might imagine, back then, no one knew how to take care of such a bird. What little information there was, mostly was aimed to make the owners life easier, not ensure the parrot is kept properly. So, after being caught in the wild as a baby, shipped around the world, he spent his first decade in a way too tiny cage, mostly being ignored, because he wasn't handleable and became more and more aggressive over time. As soon as I was old enough to realize, I tried and succeeded to bond with him. But being a kid still, I too didn't fully understand how to make his life better. Over time, I learned and tried my best to improve his situation, while he still lived with my granny. One day I finally managed to take him with me. He now has a huge enclosure and since I work from home, he is with me most of the time. I am glad to be able to keep him near me all the time, since finding a bird friend for him was deemed impossible by several experts - he is absolutely terrified of other birds, probably due to what happened during the transport. Alas, he is enjoying attention and love as much as appropriate food. While I try my very best to make his birdy life an awesome one, we still have to work through a lot of issues due to all the years of neglect. But he is doing a great job and is a wonderful friend and I see that he is happy now. All that being said, I still feel guilty for not helping him sooner, but I will continue to make it up to him. Seeing you and your peers doing your best to educate people about those animals is just wonderful and I am sure you are saving many of them from ending up in awful situations. Thank you!

I grew up in a multi parrot household. Dino, my green cheeked amazon, was simply the best. He was full of personality and sass. He was my best friend for 23 years. Sadly, he passed away a month ago due to kidney failure. He was 32 years old. I am just now learning that his species is endangered. I shouldn't be too surprised, considering that habitat loss and illegal capturing continues to rise. I love all parrots, but amazons will always hold a special place in my heart. As you can see, Dino is my profile picture 😁

I've had one for over 30 years. His name is Gonzo and he is a character. Occasionally loud at times but not often enough to bother you. They are smart and will repeat words they hear. You can teach them a few words. Gonzo probably has a vocabulary of about 25 different words or sentences that he says. We had numerous parrots and this is the best one by far. The others had at least one deal breaker such as too big, too loud, too unruly. Green cheeks/Red heads are the best overall bird on the planet.

Im lucky im her favorite person because she definitely will try to bite other people shes scared of! She was my first larger parrot and the bluffing stage is NO JOKE. She was a nightmare! But I love her to bits. I definitely think you downplayed how loud they are 😂 i loved the vid though and I'm definitely subscribing!

Come to Orange County right now and you might recalculate that number in the wild. In Yorba Linda I never saw them stop they always pass. Loud as hell. Now they are every in the trees. Go to Tustin Mariners park at Sunset and there a thousands. They are huge. I hold my arm out hoping one lands on me. But I already have a Pineapple conjure and his bites hurt...theses redheads looks even more painful. But I do want one. My next bird will be a Grey.

Try and be more patient with it. Don't start off by just letting it out. Think from its perspective that the cage is a safe spot for it and now a predator is taking it away from safety. Instead approach things slowly and focus more on keeping the cage in an active part of your house, or putting the cage on your office table where you spe d your time working or playing games or something. Get it used to your presence that you are not a predator then do things like keeping your hand inside the cage but not grabbing it. It's all about building trust and making it learn you are not there to eat it.
