I think she's not a pop star cause she doesn't have what it takes. Her voice isn't nice enough to appeal to enough people and her style isn't special. Her newer songs play around a lot with high notes that are softer and not in a mixed belt which doesn't sound good for her voice type. However, even her mixed belts don't sound pretty either. Her voice is just mediocre. There are singers like Selena Gomez who can't sing that well but their voices are nice.

I think Victoria Justice is really talented, but just like Elizabeth Gillies, she is really good at acting rather than singing. Singers like Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez, though they’re all start as actors, they really re-invent their image for their singing career and try to stay away from child actor image they’re used to have. She should venture more in acting since she is one of a hella good actor imo.

I think the big mistake was her not being 100% clear and direct about music since the beginning. She needed to release covers and work with different songwriters and producers during the 2010-2012 timespan.

@@Asim112 an nda is an agreement contract which usually actors sign even singers when working on a project or with a label in this case and by signing it you can't speak about certain details that happen behinde the scenes and if you do you will get sued and possibly blacklisted depending on who's in charge of that project or company of that label

Also, a youtube commenter said she was barred for six years from making music because of a non-compete clause when she left Columbia Records. Again, it was random guy commenting so I don't know how true it was. Also, did Nick do enough to promote their music? I don't think did otherwise maybe Freak the Freak Out and Beggin on your Knees would have been top 40 Hits though Freak the Freak Out did go gold. Also, I don't know they needed a music video for Beggin on Your Knees, just have the scene from the show.

seeing how disney had already experienced success in having their stars transition into music, it would have maybe helped in how victoria’s music career would have played out,i’m not sure about her being barred from making music for six years, as that guy commented, but it could be possible since the music industry is known for doing shady things, especially with contracts, its happened to artists like tinashe and jojo, and even zendaya has talked about bad contracts in the music industry, however from interviews it seemed she just wanted to focus on acting and have music on the side for the moment maybe bc of the bad experience she had being on a label as for nick promotion, they actually did something similar to what disney would do by playing the music videos for ‘freak the freak out,’ ‘best friends brother,’ & etc, during commercial breaks but when it came to promoting them beyond the channel such as live tv performances, there weren’t many like maybe two, the view and the ellen show, she did more tv interviews than singing performances, which i agree if there was more promo for the songs they would have been bigger, i also think its the reason ‘beggin’ on your knees’ got a music video, because they were trying to get the song more attention to boost sales

Y’all are making this a bigger spectacle than it needs to be. Victoria Justice would have made it big if Victorious was a Disney show. Nickelodeon has 0 experience creating music superstars. The first mistake was the casting. Victorious was made to launch Victoria Justice to superstardom. She should have been the ONLY singer on the show. Casting competition on the same show is a mistake that the Disney Channel would have never made. Disney would NEVER have casted Ariana Grande or Liz Gillies alongside Miley Cyrus on Hannah Montana. It would never happen. But Nickelodeon, either due to inexperience or incompetence, decided to cast actors who could potentially overshadow the main star. The reason why it was so easy for Miley, Selena and Demi to breakthrough was because there was no one else to compare them to. The problem with Victorious was that Victoria had competition right next to her. There are many other factors as well but that’s the main one. It’s really simple actually. I feel bad for Victoria. She was originally a Disney darling. She should have stayed with Disney. Victoria is the only reason Nickelodeon stayed relevant for as long as it did. Otherwise, nick would have only had iCarly and SpongeBob. Also, I’ve heard that Disney tends to show favoritism towards their alumni. Since Disney has a monopoly over the entertainment industry, it makes sense that Disney actors go on to be more successful. Like Zendaya who got casted in another Disney project (Marvels Spider-Man) which launched her to Superstar Status.

Although every one of her recent releases has been great, I miss hearing some of her older style of singing with a much darker, chestier, less breathy sound. Unfortunately I feel like the industry was shifting away from that sound when she came on the scene to a brighter, sugary, more youthful sound. The same shift happened at Disney following the Selena/Miley/Demi era with singers like China Anne McClain, Bridgit Mendler, and Coco Jones who had really strong voices but didn’t have that bright and high sound that was becoming the new industry standard.

I think the problem was that Gold was too Nickelodeon. Comparable to Ariana’s Put Your Hearts Up. But it also seems like Victoria makes music for fun or a hobby almost. Wouldn’t bet on ever getting an actual album.

well like she said in that interview she didnt want to record gold or have it as a single but the label (also tied to nickelodeon) kept insisting and it was really them wanting her to stay in that nickelodeon image, even though she was ready to move on to different things and usually with labels you have to compromise alot which probably was getting difficult for her as the album was coming together which lead to it getting shelfed bc she probably barley had any say on it towards the end, which is why she focused on acting, as she was able to grow with no issues. I think what helped ariana was signing to a label away from nickelodeon, where the label probably gave ariana more of a say when she wanted to change "daydreamin’' to "yours truly"

Let's be honest here - Victoria may have the voice to be a pop star, but she doesn't have the charisma and personality to do so. Ariana, on the other hand, has a much more memorable voice, is far and away the better singer, and actually has the drive to see things through.

Ariana came in with one of the best debut albums ever in 2013 but she was only getting recognised as the girl from Victorious. If Victoria came out with an album the same year it would be competing with Yours Truely (as it was girl from Victorious against girl from Victorious) and there is no chance her album would have a chance against Yours truely so she probably wouldn't get the publicity she was hoping for.

seeing how disney had already experienced success in having their stars transition into music, it would have maybe helped in how victoria’s music career would have played out,i’m not sure about her being barred from making music for six years, as that guy commented, but it could be possible since the music industry is known for doing shady things, especially with contracts, its happened to artists like tinashe and jojo, and even zendaya has talked about bad contracts in the music industry, however from interviews it seemed she just wanted to focus on acting and have music on the side for the moment maybe bc of the bad experience she had being on a label as for nick promotion, they actually did something similar to what disney would do by playing the music videos for ‘freak the freak out,’ ‘best friends brother,’ & etc, during commercial breaks but when it came to promoting them beyond the channel such as live tv performances, there weren’t many like maybe two, the view and the ellen show, she did more tv interviews than singing performances, which i agree if there was more promo for the songs they would have been bigger, i also think its the reason ‘beggin’ on your knees’ got a music video, because they were trying to get the song more attention to boost sales

agree, sure things didnt go the way it could have but its all in the past now and thankfully she was able to get out of that contract and now the best thing we can do is continue to support/stream her new music and new projects
Y’all are making this a bigger spectacle than it needs to be. Victoria Justice would have made it big if Victorious was a Disney show. Nickelodeon has 0 experience creating music superstars. The first mistake was the casting. Victorious was made to launch Victoria Justice to superstardom. She should have been the ONLY singer on the show. Casting competition on the same show is a mistake that the Disney Channel would have never made. Disney would NEVER have casted Ariana Grande or Liz Gillies alongside Miley Cyrus on Hannah Montana. It would never happen. But Nickelodeon, either due to inexperience or incompetence, decided to cast actors who could potentially overshadow the main star. The reason why it was so easy for Miley, Selena and Demi to breakthrough was because there was no one else to compare them to. The problem with Victorious was that Victoria had competition right next to her. There are many other factors as well but that’s the main one. It’s really simple actually. I feel bad for Victoria. She was originally a Disney darling. She should have stayed with Disney. Victoria is the only reason Nickelodeon stayed relevant for as long as it did. Otherwise, nick would have only had iCarly and SpongeBob. Also, I’ve heard that Disney tends to show favoritism towards their alumni. Since Disney has a monopoly over the entertainment industry, it makes sense that Disney actors go on to be more successful. Like Zendaya who got casted in another Disney project (Marvels Spider-Man) which launched her to Superstar Status.
@@jaylenadegoke that is a good point disney had the experience while nickelodeon was trying to replicate them, yes maybe if she stayed with Disney things wouldve played out differently for her but there also a chance not, look at olivia holt, coco jones & etc there music career didnt flourish like demi, selena, miley music career did and speaking of victorious i have wonder if maybe victoria didn't star on a show that was music related things would worked out better since no one would have gotten to witness that side of her yet until her music debut, of course this is just my guess and option
I think victorious the only show that felt like the main star didn’t have enough attention because everyone knew Ariana and liz had better voices and they sung more songs on the other hand Disney had plenty of movies and shows where there multiple people would be singing it was more organized for people to not overshadow the person whose the main star

Although every one of her recent releases has been great, I miss hearing some of her older style of singing with a much darker, chestier, less breathy sound. Unfortunately I feel like the industry was shifting away from that sound when she came on the scene to a brighter, sugary, more youthful sound. The same shift happened at Disney following the Selena/Miley/Demi era with singers like China Anne McClain, Bridgit Mendler, and Coco Jones who had really strong voices but didn’t have that bright and high sound that was becoming the new industry standard.
I think the problem was that Gold was too Nickelodeon. Comparable to Ariana’s Put Your Hearts Up. But it also seems like Victoria makes music for fun or a hobby almost. Wouldn’t bet on ever getting an actual album.
well like she said in that interview she didnt want to record gold or have it as a single but the label (also tied to nickelodeon) kept insisting and it was really them wanting her to stay in that nickelodeon image, even though she was ready to move on to different things and usually with labels you have to compromise alot which probably was getting difficult for her as the album was coming together which lead to it getting shelfed bc she probably barley had any say on it towards the end, which is why she focused on acting, as she was able to grow with no issues. I think what helped ariana was signing to a label away from nickelodeon, where the label probably gave ariana more of a say when she wanted to change "daydreamin’' to "yours truly"
I wish I got to play those games. However I am actually apart of the charting team for tap tap reloaded and I hope that I can contribute to the game as much as possible. I mostly release my own songs on there too to avoid any licensing issues

Let's be honest here - Victoria may have the voice to be a pop star, but she doesn't have the charisma and personality to do so. Ariana, on the other hand, has a much more memorable voice, is far and away the better singer, and actually has the drive to see things through.
This is such a lie. She has loads of charisma and excellent stage presence. Idk why people like you always bring up Ariana as if they’re the only two singers in the world.

Ariana came in with one of the best debut albums ever in 2013 but she was only getting recognised as the girl from Victorious. If Victoria came out with an album the same year it would be competing with Yours Truely (as it was girl from Victorious against girl from Victorious) and there is no chance her album would have a chance against Yours truely so she probably wouldn't get the publicity she was hoping for.
@@GUCCI_FAN true, but sooner or later there paths wouldve probably crossed in the music world even if victoria released her debut album earlier, and thou victoria just released gold some were already putting them against each other so really you couldnt get around it, i think if the label wouldve believed more in victoria they couldve turned things around with a 2 single, just like when ariana started with put your hearts up and then decided to change the direction of the album going from daydreamin to yours truly to then releasing the way that had big success making it her breakthrough to mainstream where put your hearts up didnt have that impact
