Quick story: I was in college when this song came out. They filmed the video on Ventura Blvd. I went to college in NoHo. I saw posts on Twitter it was happening so I left class and drove to the filming location. Saw them both driving around and I even got to keep the pink Benefit hand mirror used in the video. I have receipts! Lol

The song is still in my playlist. It's just a carefree fun song to dance to and the song fits Britney's humor.

right i loved her verse on the song, she didnt deserve the backlash she got and even reading her tweets it was obviously she was talking about the marketing for the song, which is the business side of the industry that goes for any song, nothing at all about britney and even if britney wanted, she probably couldnt add more promo since she had little say being in that conservatorship at the time

First time i see a video about this! Back in the day I did a thread with all of the information about it but my Twitter account got suspended! There was definitely an album coming in 2015, but it was scrapped in june right after pretty girls and B brought in a new A&R to start over I added the info to the Britney Spears Wiki about it, and yes! Swimming In The Stars was indeed for the scrapped album, that's why it's produced by Matthew Koms, there's even s 2014 mix leaked online. Also in Summer of 2015 her ex manager Larry said an EP could be on the way but the album had been scrapped, but I could never find that interview again, I believe it's lost media. Rumor has it that Britney is contractually obligated to relase one more album under RCA before being released of her contract. But since Britney officially retired earlier this year, I'm thinking maybe RCA could unearth "Pretty World". That way Britney could fulfill her obligations without having to do anything. It's a win-win situation for everybody.

I guess they thought if it was successful enough to lead an album, they’d rush “Glory” to 2015 (they were already working in the then-upcoming album). Mostly of the songs for Glory were recorded in 2015

I don’t think so. She said she wasn’t focused on an album just a few weeks before the song came out. It was just a promotional vehicle for the Vegas residency.

I don’t think the album was actually finalized tbh. This was back when if a single flopped or technically didn’t do as good that labels would stop sessions for that album & basically start up sessions / ideas for a whole new idea. This still happens but now that everything is digital it’s a lot easier for artist to release music without be put on pause by labels

So annoyed at this whole situation britneys team is very back and forth with so many things. Shes had litteral gems in her hands but her team has litterally booked it and said no to so many things that she looks like she has genuinely enjoyed making. But i guess thats the life britney had to lead at that point. Couldnt imagine having my children dangled in front off me as bait so i have to work sick or tired or drained just so i could make higher ups money. I hope one day Britney releases an album full of unreleased material and jjst does it full chest with no reprimands done to her, britney as a brand still sells. Shes has the best selling celebrities perfume in the game and her albums still sell solid for someone who was restricted in what she could and couldnt do.

right her team isnt good at making choices, the frustration britney mustve felt when an opportunity that she liked was presented but was passed bc of her team, her father is just the worse and so selfish its heartbreaking to hear how she was treated it would be amazing to see britney release an album full of unreleased music she wanted too couldn't in the past, but for now i just wish her all the best and to live fully the way she wants to, she deserves to be happy

Britney genuinely seemed happy in this music video. Like she was having fun and being silly. I would've liked to see an album from her with that playful, fun vibe with vibrant videos and crazy expressions. Glory played it safe and was generic. Mood ring is my favourite though. Should've been a first single!.

I don't think there is an album, but only a concept, demos. Her team was just exploring and trying to feel things before an official release, just like Selena Gomez with her singles Fetish and Bad Liar. I believe, indeed, that was an ideia - a concept of an album at this period of time, but nothing solid, recorded.

i think they were scrambling because bj was such an unprecedented flop. britney was having a sort of renaissance during this period riding off the coattails of femme fatale, x factor, scream and shout, and her residency. bj should have been a smash album. what was in their mind going from max martin and dr luke on femme fatale to will i am as executive producer? all because of scream and shout? LOL. britney jean was supposed to be her ray of light... a spiritual experience. im pretty sure the bonus tracks and alien are remnants of the original britney jean concept. it should have been led by william orbit not will i am!!! but enough about bj though. britney is a STAR and should not have to throw darts at a board like releasing a single with no concrete album rollout planned like pretty girls a part of me is glad pretty girls flopped because glory is one of my fav britney albums!!

@@Playlist_Pop I think Pretty World was a direction RCA was not liking hence they went back to the drawing board and followed the Glory route. I'd love to hear some of the demos for that era though. We were lucky to hear the Matthew Koma track "Utopia" & "Exaholic" from pretty world concept! We need more 😍

9:55 I literally cried because of this picture at the time. I was such a huge fan of Iggy Azalea, got the cd, every song on repeat, and mostly had an entire page dedicated to post pictures of Iggy Azalea's multiple photoshoots and videos. Ironically she chose the song "Pretty Girls" to appear like this at the Billboard Awards. Thankfully I'm over it now but wow, what a total shock at the time. Most drastic plastic surgery I ever witnessed.

Pretty girls wasn’t that good of a song, but it was undoubtedly made worse by iggy. The general public was starting to turn against iggy if they hadn’t already, so Brittany and her team picking her made the whole concept seem even more dated. I think the song would’ve done better if it was just her or they had gotten someone like Nicki on it

Pretty Girls isn’t my fave, and Iggy’s rap is HORRIBLE in it 🌽, but I still like the song.
