The reason why they have gone away from using chrono at muzzle end, is because down range, the errors "appear" to be reduced. Im thinking they want to cover up, mask ammunition inconsistencies and they want better statistics. By having a chrono near the muzzle, it tells the truth. And the truth hurts sometimes. They cannot make the ammunition accurate enough, and price you are paying for MATCH ammo is ridicules anyway. Every manufacturer wants to look good on paper, and by moving the chrono downrange, it is going to give them those biased figures to make them and their ammo look good. Sorry, i disagree with the idea of moving the chrono down range, as it is masking errors in the ammunition and that is NOT what you want. Bottom line is, they need to make better MATCH ammo, and it looks like this is really challenging them, so they are fiddling with the figures to make them look much better than what they really are.
The only problem with the 700 tactical is a lack of chamber offerings.....id like to have a 700 tactical with an 18 inch bull barrel in 30,06....or 300 win mag....or 270
you can absolutely use a 10x out to longer ranges. do it all the time at 1k. a 14x a little more useful.
WoW , look how long those bullets are. Gotta be high bc.
What was the bullet weight? What were the velocities? Thanks.
300 Grain Lapua Senar and it was going around 1050 if I remember correctly
By far the most informative video about scope design that I have found. Thanks for creating this content.
Glad you found some value in it. Thanks for the comment
good
Does it share Tenon/prefit dimensions with any other commonly prefit actions on the market? Like for example the Aero Solus taking Zermatt Origin prefits, or is it going to be something that will take some time for barrel manufacturers and smiths to start offering?
You may have to reach out to them but I believe it’s shares a Remington 700 style barrel tenon with a slightly different headspacing or something.
What about BCA 10.5 in .22 lr?
What color is that gray bow stock can’t find it on web site ( renagade )
I don’t think they are able to do the Kuiu based color patterns anymore.
For competition, you want the round to be subsonic the whole time so that you don't have a sound barrier transition influencing the flight of the bullet... hence a long barrel to keep the velocities under that.
Standard factory test barrels used by ammo makers like CCI are 25 inches for muzzle velocity measurments. If they got less than the published muzzle velocity at that length then something else is going on. Makes no sense that there would be large velocity increases from 25 inches down to 21 inches.
promo sm 👉
Manufacturers vary the primer to vary velocity in different types of rounds. Also only around 50% of the powder in a 22lr is burned in a match length barrel.
Great video guys. It was well worth the time to watch it.
I like a long buttstock on my SBR. It's a short barreled rifel, not a short buttstock rifle.
Great video guys thank you
A lot of people don’t realize that high quality optical glass in the US goes to DoD for satellites, aircraft and weapons optical sensors, medical devices, microscopes, surveying equipment, and other applications where the contractors are mandated to use Berry Amendment compliant components.
I thought that Berry compliance was only related to clothing. That makes sense if it's a broader scope than just clothing.
@@ShooterOpinions Aircraft, vehicles, tires, buildings, semiconductors, rocket motors, food, wiring, services, you name it. Even raw materials need waivers. It was a huge scandal when they found out General Shinseki and that stupid beret fiasco involved Chicom-made berets sold to the US Army. Berry Amendment compliance is serious business, and get you into deep trouble even if you didn't know one of your suppliers sourced foreign materials without sign-off.
Super informative!
Thanks for watching!
Is the action that Landon is playing with in this video the titanium version or the stainless version?
That is the Stainless Steel version.
NFA paper work 😂😂 Good one
why is this better than 8.6 blackout
I built this before the 8.6 Blackout. I believe the advantage of the 8.6 is the ability to shoot supersonic with respectable velocity. I built this with no intention of supersonic so I think the case capacity makes it easier to load subsonic. If I had slightly less case capacity I think I would have more powder options. Even so, I don't think I would have done it differently.
Why is the 8.6 using a 1:3 twist.
No idea. I think it's trying to be different. Im plenty stable with subsonic 300 grain bullets at 1:6 twist.
What is your complete setup. I’m wanting to build a short tree stand rifle for the Ozark deer woods. This seems perfect but will probably lean to .308.
Great video, thanks. I have looked high and low for someone who has cut a 22 wmr from 24+ to 20 inch by the inch and performed extensive tests. A 17 HMR tested the same would surely get 1.5 billion views.
Having customized a R700 to the nth degree, the advantages of a custom gun from the start are definitely worth consideration.
Yeah by the time you buy a factory rifle and then "upgrade" everything you want to change, You are looking at a similar $ investment. May as well do it right from the start.
So many R 700 clones out there. What are these actions real selling points? What sets them aside from the rest of them? Are these geared more towards the prs guys or are bench and f classers going to benefit from them as well?
I think what really sets them apart is the people behind the products. Besides a few features that are largely preferences for the consumer, they are very similar in quality, materials, and precision. When everything is so similar it really comes down to who you want to do business with.
We're really excited about the new SKLTN! Let's Go!!
What is the bolt made of?
Stainless Steel
What grade of stainless?
It’s 4140 which is chrome moly I believe
Do you do links for the stuff you add to your rifle
I'll do that now.
I'll do that now.
Next is the 408 whisper.
ha ha, that would require a whole new suppressor... sounds like a great idea!
When you said Creedmoor I said to hell with it
Holy quiet rifle, Batman!
Yeah its insane really. not sure if you checked it out but I did a video all about that build and the 338BR round.
Long .22 rimfire barrels were used for long the sight radius that enabled, with peep sights. It had the effect of making standard velocity ammo almost hearing safe too. There is no slip in the rifling, so the bullet does not spin faster at 1:16 twist, for a barrel that is 28" long VS 16". This assumed standard velocity ammo.
Wow, 1 grain of powder!
Hello just a quick question I have 22lr Ruger Target Lite 16 inch bull barrel , is it worth it to go get something like 18 inch KIDD Barrel???
My Savage with a 16 1/4 inch barrel matches the groups I see shot by those with exotic and very expensive rifles. All that money spent does not seem to make much--if any--difference.
Surprised you didn’t get the lwrci compact
All these videos are useless -- they all say "oh no different in accuracy. Oh, no difference in longevity. Oh, no difference really"
In the manual of my Marlin 925 it says you NEVER have to clean a .22 under normal conditions. But I’m not normal and I don’t like dirty guns so it gets cleaned every now and then anyway. My dad must have killed a million ‘coons and at least that many squirrels in his lifetime and he never cleaned the barrel on his Remington bolt action single shot targetmaster. He would run an oil rag with 3in1 oil over the outside when he came in but NEVER cleaned the barrel in I know 50 years.(I can still smell that 3in1, Oh how something like a smell can bring back fond memories. SHOOT SAFE!!!!!!!!
I am glad this video is available because, manufacturing industry is changing. Today or soon manufacturing industry will be able to manufacture suppressors made out of a special material at a reasonable cost
This rifle is hot. Makes me want a black ruckus now
I got one in 338 lapua will definitely be adding some more to the collection
Same here! I have one 'in the white' with 480 and 454 bolt faces and might get one nitrided with 480 and magnum bolt faces
I wouldn't give that old wives' tale any credence; the idea that a longer barrel would somehow impart more "twist" for a given rate is complete horseshit.
An 880 sq barrel was better than anything available today.
Seems like a good argument for Marlin's microgroove rifling.
I buy dead air because I want the best quality product I can get my mitts on. Seeing this video makes me want to keep supporting them just because they seem super down to earth.
Great info. Just saved me some money
POI shift similar across different mount options? Eg same can, but mounted different ways? Some say straight thread has more POI shift than a QD mount based on various torque amount. ???
Helpful
thank you. Very good video!
