Hi! We’re Stephanie and Chris, a couple who decided to leave our high-stress careers and retire early so we could travel and spend more quality time with family and friends. After years of investing and frugal living, we realized our financial goals and started planning our exit from work and home ownership. We meticulously planned our retirement date which ended up being 388 DAYS in the future. While it may not be immediately clear to everyone, this is a very symbolic number for us, so we decided to name our channel 388 Days.
Join us as we travel through Europe, Southeast Asia, and beyond, learning about local history and food culture (with an emphasis on food).

Just fun fact, Jayavarman II, the King of Khmer who built Angkor actually studied (or took refugee) in Java during the height of Mataram Kingdom. When The Prambanan maybe in their peak golden era. So, Jayavarman maybe took inspiration of Angkor from Java.

Candi Dieng complex and Candi Gedong Songo complex, both are on near tops of volcanoes. You may list them.

Recommended places around Bandung if you visit again : - Mount Tangkuban Parahu. - Ciwidey Tea Plantation. - Kawah Putih (white crater). - Sudirman Street Food area. You won't regret, those are international tourist destination.

@@388_days Kebun raya bogor (botanical garden) in central city, Safary zoo, a lot of waterfall, or you can go to Puncak there a lot of interesting place but you must visit on weekday not weekend bucause it will traffic and o lot of people there to vacation.
@@388_days You missed many great places in West Java province. While you in Bandung(West Java), you can visit Kawah Putih; Tangkuban Perahu Mount, Tea Plantations, etc there...

We chose the inter-city train because Bandung station was very close to our hotel, and Jakarta Gambir was also very close to our hotel. The scenery was fantastic so we were very happy with a longer ride with very nice comfort.

This trip looks a bit in hurry, you did not review much about your foods (the cake with cream you had). The bakery was very big, I would buy some different types, just a little of each, to try.
It was very hot and we didn’t have a good plan 😂😂😂. It wasn’t the best day for filming. We tried, but it didn’t really come together. But we still like to post for family and friends so they can see what we did. Ironically, this video has a lot of views because our train video from last week was so popular. The KZread algorithm is so strange. 😜 Thanks for watching. Hopefully our video for next week will be a little better. We just started to edit it.

@@388_days I really look forward to seeing your video in Singapore. To me, Singapore is just a place for business and finance but I was impressed by its cleanliness and nice people. It was my first budget trip with the other 7 friends abroad and was our good memory.
@saigonese.nguyen We’ll see how it turns out. It was a bit rushed, and we didn’t get to see as much as we wanted. We are kind of nerds so we spent a lot of time at the National Museum learning about the history of Singapore. I can’t believe Singapore was a budget trip for you. Singapore is so expensive. We plan to come back in the future for a longer stay, but probably not more than one week.
@@388_days It was lol. The flight tickets were bought 7 months in advance. We rent an apartment with 2 bedrooms only for 8 people to stay. We brought instant noodles and cooked foods ourselves lol. Of course, we had to spend money for public transit and local foods. We did not expect much about the entertainment in this country, we just wanted to see why Singapore is better than the other Asian countries in the same area, in term of economy.
Try the less mainstream places to visit. Go to Belitung island.
Since this was our first time in Indonesia, we didn’t really know what to expect while visiting Java. Now we are more familiar and more comfortable with the transportation.
What is the best way to travel to Belitung? I assume we can’t take the train 😂😂
@@388_daysonly 1 hour flight from Jakarta. Someone said Belitung vibes like old Bali, less tourists and less traffic jam. You can research before you decide to go there, may be you interest to visit.
@@388_daysBelitung is another Island and provinces in Indonesia. Belitung is an beautiful island in Bangka Belitung province... You can find beautiful beaches there... It doesni't popular place by tourist, but there are many great place to visit.. You can go there with plane from Jakarta airport...

@noefvon We didn’t feel like climbing up Mt Bromo 😰😰. We used to live near two large volcanoes in the United States so the volcanoes were definitely very cool, but we didn’t want to climb them.

It’s a great ride. Maybe very soon you can take the high speed route. I hope they will have it complete in a few years because it’s a long train ride otherwise.

Di Bandung banyak sekali tempat wisata. banyak.para turis dari negara negara lain suka berkunjung ke Bandung. cuaca di Bandung juga lebih sejuk.
We needed to get some recommendations for things to do in Bandung. Since we only stayed for one day, we didn’t have time to do a lot. Plus, many of the activities were quite a distance from the city. Maybe we will get some good recommendations from viewers about things we should plan to do the next time we visit.
Train ride in indonesia 10 - 15 years ago actually almost the same or sligthly better than india but all change because 1 person name @ignatius jonan who change all of that.
Wow! It’s a great experience. We were both surprised at how nice the trains are. Even better than many trains in Europe. It seems to have been a good investment as we saw many people taking the train.
