Johnny Hickey

Johnny Hickey

I’m Johnny. I’ve run marketing for several Shopify stores since 2020. I’ve gotten stores to go from zero to $80,000 a week within a month

I’ve worked at a store that went from 0 to 19,000,000 in sales in four years with an MER of 5.7, so they made a lot of money.

These days, I oversee marketing for a bunch of brands. I’ve created some resources, some tools like spreadsheets and KPI trackers, and some resources for agencies. I review agencies. I have about 75 solo skill agencies; in other words, they don’t do Facebook, Snapchat, Pinterest, and all that. They specialize.

To figure out what’s happening in your business, you must be in the numbers. It’s not that hard. I don’t even want to hear it. I don’t want to listen to it. I don’t have time to put the numbers in the spreadsheet, as my spreadsheet has 14 monthly entries. It can tell you everything from your MER to your monthly increase versus the month before. It can say to you returns rate you discount rate.

Johnny Hickey's video offers valuable insights into his transition from a firefighting career to digital marketing with a focus on Shopify. However, the presentation could be improved in a couple of significant ways: Lack of Explanation on DTC: Johnny mentions his engagement with DTC (Direct to Consumer) marketing but fails to explicitly define or explain the term within the context of his video. This omission could leave viewers who are unfamiliar with the term or new to e-commerce concepts without a clear understanding of what DTC entails or why it is crucial for selling online. A brief explanation of DTC would not only enhance comprehension but also provide viewers with a clearer view of the e-commerce landscape and how DTC strategies might apply to their ventures. Vagueness on Products and Brands: Throughout his narrative, Johnny discusses working on his wife's brand and other brands without specifying what products these brands offer. This lack of specificity might detract from the relatability and applicability of his experiences for the audience. Viewers seeking guidance or inspiration might find it difficult to connect the dots between his strategies and their potential applications without knowing what types of products he has experience marketing. Detailing the nature of these products or at least the industry sector would enrich the content, making it more tangible and actionable for the audience. Improving these aspects could make Johnny's video a more comprehensive resource for aspiring entrepreneurs and marketers by providing a clearer, more detailed roadmap of his experiences and the lessons applicable to their own direct-to-consumer endeavors. The average firefighter makes more income and benefits that the average DTC specialist. Before making that drastic change, its important to have a very concrete plan and proven system.
