    11:15 "You'll never see a _Star Wars_ line like _The LEGO Batman Movie,_ with so many original or remixed concepts, because _Star Wars_ would get mad if [The LEGO Group] gave it that treatment, that these [are] distractions from their favorite designs that already exist." This is why I am hopeful that the LEGO _Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy_ toyline and TV Special can succeed. After years of adult fans being super vocal about wanting "hyper-accurate display models" and "accurate, exclusive Minifigures," it feels like The LEGO Group is finally stepping away from pandering towards those vocal minorities and remembering the fun that can be had with modifying concepts through LEGO builds.

    Dude, I absolutely love these mods! And although you said you’re finished here, there’s just three more characters I would love to see you revamp! 1- Telluris (the iron tribe agori who pilots the Scopio XV-1) 2- Zesk (even if minor, I still think he could be upgraded) 3- A Toa (basically, you used CCBS shells to give the design language of the more organic agori/glaotrian. I would like to see an example of a revamp of a toa in your style, and see how how you visually make them distinct from the more organic agori/glatorian.)

    It’s cool to see a mod from you that goes so far back! It blends in so well with the rest of the line’s sets. As far as the right arm goes, the only solution I can think of is just using the pin and axle piece, attach a cone onto the axle, and the put in the harpoon on the end of the cone. You could maybe put the saw blade on the harpoon, but that may risk chipping the chrome.

    My personal headcanon for why some of the buggoids looked human is because the anthropomorphic ones were once human themselves. When someone is imprisoned in the cocoons, they eventually metamorphose into a buggoid mutant tasked with being either a worker (buggoid/mantizoid) or a soldier (mosquitoid). I always figured the buggoids were obsessed with gene splicing and cybernetics to make themselves superior to other organisms, and therefore more effective conquerers. However, the larvae created by the hive crawler and the bugs from set 70707 are what purebred buggoids look like.

    What's the outro music? It's really cool. And, of course, so's the moc! I love this color scheme of this theme a ton, and the design really feels at home with the theme's original sets! As for the hybrid pin-axle, I think that's fine. It's an interior piece that doesn't affect the authentically classic look in the slightest, even if it's technically anachronistic.

    With Lego bringing back they're owm version of Lego space today I'm curious about the themes future I think the reason the new one is called city is because eventually where going to see the characters we see create colonies which would mean cities.

    It’s a retail thing. Space by itself would compete too directly with Star Wars, so they have to slip it through under City and Friends and other banners to not scare Target and Wal-mart.

    I had a though about the algorithm delemia, what if you split the lego and Planet Ripple videos to two different channels, so uploading Planet Ripple stuff wouldn't also tank the lego stuff. Just an idea I had, I have no idea how you run this one channel, so I understand if that would be too much to manage

  • @NickonPlanetRipple
    @NickonPlanetRipple4 күн бұрын

    Look... that's always the first idea. I've thought of it, other people have suggested it, even family. But it's NOT as good in execution as it sounds on paper. All it would do is fragment my fanbase. My views on videos like this are unlikely to improve as I tried uploading nothing but weekly lego videos for a few months and performance still tanked, and while Planet Ripple at least gets SOME views now, it would get no views on another channel. It's not about content. It's about the algorithm turning aggressive and trying to squeeze creators like me out of the platform because it doesn't want us anymore. All it wants is shorts, with AI-generated scripts, voices and thumbnails.

    Nice job, but yeah, this is more of a Nick’s MOC than a Nick’s MOD. For a more retro connection for the drill, maybe you could use a Technic pin with a lightsaber blade stuck into it or a 3L axle with stud at the end, although you might have to make the drill a bit longer for it to fit.

    I think I speak for everyone when I say this is the best Nick’s Mod ever! You have seriously outdone yourself with this one. 👏 Not only does your MOC have fantastic design work in its own right, but it fits in perfectly with the other Hydronauts sets. I recently picked up a complete Hydronauts/Stingrays collection from my local area - at least, I *thought* it was complete, but now it turns out I’m going to have to part out your Sea Strider to complete the collection! 😊 In addition, I sincerely echo your thoughts on the Hydronauts being the most “spacey” wave of Aquazone - I couldn’t agree more! The allusions you draw to Alpha Team Mission Deep Sea are also really interesting. I never once considered the two related, but I think you’ve convinced me! This video reminds us all why you’re the best, Nick. ❤

    The mech nicely fits the scifi feel of Hydronauts. Love the colors and amount of detail. It also reminds me of early diving equipment where the diver would walk over the ocean floor with lead in his boots. As a kid i would prefer the Stingrays because of their darker colors and seamonster ships but now i appreciate hydronauts better. I also felt that these factions shared a universe with aquanauts and aquasharks because of the crystals and similar bricks

  • @Maniac4Bricks

    Not only was this a good retro-style MOC, it was a great evaluation at both Mission Deep Sea and Aquazone Hydronauts. I'd love to get more into the Hydronauts one day, I've only ever played with a handful of Stingrays as a kid, and a small set (Solo Sub) in recent years. The Crystal Detector always stood out in my mind as a set to get
