Come with me. Let's discover places together.
DISCOVER WITH TIMOTHY complements my website www.penang-traveltips.com. It is to satisfy my curiosity about places and to share them with you. Although I created this channel many years ago, I could not decide what to do with it until 1 January 2022, when I finally decided to create narrated walking tours where I can show you places and share interesting details about them. Every video is carefully researched to provide fascinating information about the places featured.

Your vlogs are great.. thankyou....pool dont look that interesting....hotel.very nicevtho😅
🆒🤙🆒😎
I learn a lot about Penang Road, thanks
very interesting street.. with beautiful old mansions with history.. but not being rude.. its such a shame.. that hawkers centre is such an eye sore.. with very thirdworld type of vibe.. Penang people should try to improve their visual aesthetic.. why not build a beautiful hawker centre that will enhance the area.. surely its not that difficult..
No sir, you are not being rude at all. Unfortunately, I also agree with you!
I had the opportunity to arrive in PIA when the airside floor was fully carpeted! #YTJT
Perfect 👌
Excellent.
Many thanks!
Great video on Leith Street, Timothy. Edison Hotel, once known as Cathay Hotel was a mansion built by tycoon Yeoh Wee Gark & he named his mansion, Venus House. The bungalow at the centre of the Red Garden Food Paradise hawker centre was built by tycoon Tye Yee Koon & was his primary residence.
Oh yes, the name Yeoh Wee Gark escaped me when I walked the street. Actually, I have forgotten it, even though I was told it when I stayed there.
Kumpul duit, i want to try presidential suite!!!
Boleh!
If I'm not mistaken, Convent School Penang Road used to be in that complex as well. Can you confirm or otherwise. Thanks
Oh, is it? Which complex do you mean?
Please don't take this as a criticism but I think you misunderstood. We are not critical of the captions, only that it disappears too fast, and we requested it stays on for a few seconds more. If it's not too much to ask, can we have both. Thanks.
I will try to include the captions.
Excellent tour.
Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent as always, Timothy. I shall make a point to visit the Catholic church enclave in a few months'. Like the protestant cemetery (my favourite place in George Town) it's another peaceful haven in the busy city.
One day I will take you on a video tour of the Protestant Cemetery.
@@discoverwithtimothy Excellent. Some of the inscriptions on the gravestones are really quite heartbreaking. There are fascinating stories there.
Very useful tour
Thanks a lot
Beautiful tour.. 👍💯🤗🚶😁✌️😘
Thank you so much, Eddy.
portulaca or moss rose very pretty.
Thank you! The name escaped me.
Suara ok lah tapi memang berhati kuat negara! Caya sama lu!
thanks for information
Welcome
Please leave the captions on for a few extra seconds, and I enjoy watching your walking videos. Thank you
Yes please, will leave it on longer in subsequent videos!
Thanks for uploading this video, but I sincerely hope you would narrated it instead of putting on the captions as it is very difficult to read them fast and see the video at the same time. Thanks.
A walk I know very well as I stay near the police HQ. And I shall be back again come November. Meanwhile I shall enjoy the warm summer weather in London after a dismal spring. You still have a problem with your captions - blink and they vanish!
Okay, will try to make them longer still, maybe 8 seconds or even 10 seconds?
Ah, the memories of Jalan Penang from the 1970s and 80s! I remember watching Rambo III with my grandmother at the Odeon Cinema, and there was a coffee shop nearby which had the best wanton mee for us children even before that! I'm surprised you did not mention the old Loke Thye Kee Restaurant at the start of Jalan Burmah. Is it still in existence?
Loke Thye Kee Restaurant was renovated a few years back, opened to much hype, and then I think it closed down because business was bad. The last I went, the building is in good condition, but no business was operating.
Hi, we covered a topic about land reclamation in our school. How can we arrange a visit here with students?
I am not sure, as I wasn't the one making the arrangement.
very cool video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
We Penang people miss Penang old time...beach so nice..bcoz development Penang destroy
Is The Wave a part of the original Times Square or is it just near by and is the building completed with occupied units? Thank you, Tim.
Yes, it's part of the original Penang Times Square, which is being constructed in phases, and there is still another building at the junction of Jalan Dato' Keramat and Jalan Kampung Jawa Lama yet to be built.
Could u leave the captions on a little longer please? Not enough time to read. Thanks. This is a lovely video❤
I gave up reading the captions as they vanished so quickly. I just concentrated on the video. Besides, I like Timothy's commentary!
Okay, I will check how long is the caption on this video, and I will make it longer in the next one.
I was about to ask why no boat ride on your vid, but then I scanned through it again and saw the price @4:07. 😱⚰ Many people attempted to fly their drones here. Should this lake dry up in the future, archeologists will no doubt find many drone carcasses at the bottom.
Ha ha ha!
Video dan audio yang bagus dan cantik. Terima kasih. _ Abang Wardi, K.Lumpur. _ 1.6.2024
Terima kasih!
Breakfast is complimentary?
Yes, if you are staying there.
Very interesting video! I cannot imagine tourists coming here, but there's potential for Malaysian hipsters coming for IG photos of urban sprawl like they do in Hong Kong public housing estates. I think you've got something going here!
Thanks very much. I will try to put out a new video twice a week, on Wednesday and Saturday.
Thank you for premiering this area that many youngsters don’t venture nowadays!! Yes those flats were considered as tall in those days!! Not to be disrespectful , but I remembered that it had been a few high rise suicides !! Bless their souls!! Hope it is all different now!! Sorry not intended to offend!!!
Thanks Eddie. Oh, I didn't know that it has suicides! No choice, if I did know, I might have mentioned. It's not intending to offend but to be factual, but then again, I might just leave out such details.
Nice ❤❤
Thanks for liking
Beautiful.. 👍💯🌅😁🤗✌️
Thanks so much, Eddy!
Great instructor
We agree!
Great video
Thanks! Glad you think so!
Is it halal?>
Yes, as far as I know, it is.
A lot of wasted money
Thanks for your opinion.

Thanks for showing us this beautiful
My pleasure 😊
There are at least 2 Armenian families still in Penang - the Gallistaun & Gregory families.
I see, thanks for telling me that, Andrew!
A most fascinating video conducted in Penanglish and Penang Hokkien, which I understood every word of! My own maternal grandfather, Tay Hooi Keat (same surname as yours), passed in 1989 and was buried in Western Road Cemetery. Maybe we are distant relatives?
Wow, isn't that a surprise! And who knows. Both my father and mother are buried at the Western Road Cemetery.
@@discoverwithtimothy Yes, your video has gotten me interested to find out more about my grandfather's family in Penang.
This buffer dinner looks delicious, plenty of seafood choices, RM55 for child sounds reasonable.
Yes it does!
Stellar effort Tim. Always nice to see my hometown esp so when I live OS.
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi , how about the premium junior ?
Sorry, not sure, and my contact at the hotel has left.
37:49 sorry for disturbing xd
