2024 Penang Miaohui CNY Celebration 甲辰年槟城庙会 Part 2

The Penang Miaohui or 槟城庙会 is an annual cultural extravaganza that is staged during Chinese New Year. Months in planning, yet happening for only one day, it showcases the rich cultural tapestry of Penang. While Miaohui is a predominantly Penang Chinese celebration - the name translates as temple fair, for it is when many of the Chinese clan temples open their doors to visitors - it also draws participation from other communities of Penang.
The 2024 Penang Miaohui, of the Year of the Dragon, or 甲辰年槟城庙会 is the first time I have been able to videograph it from end to end. With this much footage, I have to split my presentation into three parts. Parts 1 and 2 will showcase the cultures and crafts, including visiting the clan temples that are open to the public, while Part 3 will showcase the food for sale during Miaohui.
