  It's a D-lux 7 with a facelift. A very expensive one. I own a Q3 and an x100v for street.

  Man I love the D Lux 7 and Lumix LX100 m2 so it makes me sad to see so little effort put into an upgrade by Leica/Panasonic. No 4K 60? Still has a significant crop in video? Still with 49 area contrast detect AF? It is no wonder why no one is talking about the specifics of this camera.

  Agree completely. Camera is for people who value the consistency of the interface. Like photographic “b” camera. And, let’s not forget, the entry camera into the Leica brand.

  Are there really no improvements in the most important parts of the camera like a new faster CPU, better processing, longer battery life, more photo modes, 4K60, etc? If not then it's purely for the diehard fans.

  Design is great with the exception of the play button position which seems to me to be too close to where you will place the thumb. Very nice review as always.

  I had a bad experiance with D-Lux 7 in regards to sensor dust that gets in and cannot be cleaned, I hope they are able to resolve this problem.

  Thank you for the comprehensive video. Does the Leica D-lux 8 have the same AutoFocus as Leica Q3 or still the same old AutoFocus like D-Lux 7? And does the Leica D-Lux 8 have the Film style/Leica Looks like Q3 or none at all?

  My first Leica camera was the D-Lux 2! It was a great, great little camera and I shot the hell out of it until I got my Leica M8. However, since then Leica has lost its value to me. However, I have to say this little D-Lux 8 has a lot of very nice features, especially the MFT lens which is very similar to the Olympus m43rds system I now use. I could see how this would be a great all round second body.

  Dlux 8 would be an option with the new 25 MP Sensor..with effective 17 Mp and the old Sensor its outdated

  First, hope can see some accessory in the video. How Leica will keep the compact camera line with big coms, and maybe 16-50mm F1.4-2.8 lens version, and 24-280mm F2.8-5.6, RX-10 type version (with M43 cmos)

  Even in horizontal orientation, the ergonomic benefits of the vertical grip are critical enough for me to need it, either built-in the Z9 or added to the Z8. Video can only be recorded to one card, I believe the back-up option is unavailable. (I would be very happy if I'm wrong.)

You bragged to have experienced both cameras but made a WHOLE VIDEO referring elswhere, pfff such a disappointment.

  Lol - don't really get what you want to tell me :) I think I clearly mentioned in the video that not only both cameras are in front of me on the table but that I shot both cameras very often! The reason why I show specs side by side is that people typically want to see the direct infos from the manufacturer. But yes, I shot both cameras very often so know both cameras very well :)

  8:33 It's actually focused on the eyelash as opposed to the iris. This is a problem I've been waiting for Nikon to fix but so far...nothing. I'm surprised this doesn't bother more people.

  What makes a lens calibrated ( Matched ) to get excellent result in any Camera.... it is that the lens is calibrated to the SENSOR FILTER STACK.... and photosites micro lensing. Impressive Ttartisan lens.. thanks for share

  I use it for video, filming for a few hours on and off. So prefer the Z9. No need to fiddle with the batteries.

  Not a completely uninteresting comparison, but I think it would have been far more interesting to compare the 40mp Leica Monochrom to, say, a 60mp colour camera. It would just be much more relevant to many more people. (An aside: Accutance in English has the stress on the first syllable.).

  Wonder will Leica make the hold family for F1.8 lens a Leica version ? With the 100mm F2.8 Marco, and i have a feeling that there is a 135mm F2.8 version in the housing family.

  You miss the point! The monochrom sensor is not meant for shooting furniture etc! It REALLY comes into it’s own in street photography particularly at night. It’s imagery in these environments is vastly superior to converted colour .DNG files. High ISO performance,no filters before sensor make monochrom cameras the go to for the best B/W photography.

  24-70/2.8 usually for wedding pro. 24-120/4 very useful for travel. Pro usually pair the zoom with 35/1.2 and 85/1.2 for specialized shoot
