I just got an M11 in September. The added storage is nice, but I rarely ever exceed 64GB before downloading anyway. Can't wait to see if the LCC trickles down to the M11 or only on new models moving forward. Thanks for this quick overview.

Good point, its nice to have more storage but generally 64GB is plenty of space on the M11.

The M11 is probably the best camera for hiking trips, (manual pre-) focussing by focal range scale on the M lenses most convenient focussing ever. With the Summicron-M 2/75 and the Summicron-M 2/28 in combination with the 60 megapixel probably your best friend for landscape and reportage photography. I'm a little bit jealous on the Noctilux-M 1.25/75 ASPH, unfortunately currently out of my financial capabilities 😅. That's pretty hard if you're severely suffering of GAS 🤪.

Great video. On the market for a second M11 Body and decided to go with the silver M11P. If I have to part ways with all my cameras and need to stay with only one the M11 P will be the one. Have you got a chance to get a copy of the new Summicron 28mm f2?

Two years ago, I wrote a post on a forum about image authentication, and how it's a necessary discussion. Almost every reply was negative (those negative replies were probably from the same people who believed that mirrorless would never replace DSLRs). Well, its good to see that Leica is taking this seriously! I have my own ideas about image authentication, so maybe a different manufacturer will approach the problem differently. P.S. So when will Leica cameras have HEIF as an option? They could have offered a 16-bit compressed file format 15 years ago (JPEG 2000).

Indeed - its finally there, content credentials. My personal opinion is aligned with yours, I think we need proof of authenticity, living in an age of AI, ML and deep fakes.

Nice camera. I like the P versions (had the Q-P). Congrats. I wonder wether there will be software upgrade/date for the normal M11 to add that authenticity feature. Maybe you could ask your Leica contacts. Thanks for sharing

I do love your channel and I’m in awe of all the amazing gear you share with us. I am not a pro, but I will be buying an M11 or M11P. Do you think the M11P will maintain a higher resale value? It doesn’t have the coveted red Leica badge on the front, so I don’t know if it will be as sought after,, or not. Thanks!

IMHO, the M11-P will have a higher resale value. Let's have a look at the new prices from Leica Store Miami for each one: M11: $8,995 M11-P: $9,195 The difference is only $200, yet the M11-P has double the internal memory, plus the CAI feature. I think those extra features are worth more than just $200!

Love the black paint on brass, but I saw a picture of the Silver and it’s nice. Can you do a review on the 21mm SL? I haven’t seen anything about it. ✌️out

Hello😊 so M11-P has the same paint finish as M11 Black ? Or is it same as M11 Monochrom ? This is my deciding factor in purchasing this camera.

Can you always see the original image with CAI enabled?

As far as I know yes, the original unmodified image. If you enable Content Credentials, of course.

Still waiting for front electronic curtain shutter mode.

I honestly don't know, I never owned a Canon 5DIII.

I heard from many people that the new firmware2.0.1 for M11 is causing the camera to freeze up again. Could you test this for us?

I believe the shutter sound is a tiny bit more discrete but maybe I hear what I want to hear :)

For now that's the M to get! Will Leica be coming out with a century-anniversary M 12 next year?

My guess is that the M11-P will be Leicas M-flagship for a while. I do not think we get an M12 in 2024. I believe that 2024 is the year for a new Leica SL3 - but clearly speculating here :)

That would be way too quick for Leica to release. Maybe limited edition M11s first. Most M generation took around 5 years apart, 2027 probably

Another collector's item! The parts are made in Portugal and the camera is assembled in Wetzlar/Germany! Who provides the 60MP sensor? I guess it is an SONY sensor! 😉

I’m pretty sure z Sony makes almost everyone’s sensors but the companies design their own. Probably helps keeps cost down or profits up!

Most sensors are made by Sony, would not be surprised if this a a modified version of the Sony A7RV sensor.

Very interesting initiative this new Content Creator Authenticity, but as long as is a digitized document it can be reproduced by a computer. I mean, it looks like pumped Exif, that is good but at the same time to protect against AI reproduction or misappropriation seems the first step to do but still too easy to hack. Well maybe it will work.

Yeah. I was also thinking what happen if someone takes a screenshot of an image or copy and pastes part of the image onto a new PSD document. More examples would be great to understand how this will work in different scenarios.

@@GastonShutterscan be transmitted like a digital negative onto a alternate sensor- content credential removed. A physical negative with hand written by author is best provenance

Niemand thematisiert den Shutter Sound, schade! Ist dieser denn leiser, als bei der M11? Der Unterschied von M10 zu M10-P ist schon sehr markant.

Ich werde das mal ausprobieren. Mein Gefühl sagt mir, dass der Shutter Sound der M11-P etwas diskreter ist. Aber ich kann gerne die beiden Kameras mal nebeneinander halten und dann die Dezibel messen.

The freeze issue was fixed some time ago with new firmware, never had any issues since then.
