One problem I often see with many city designs or housing is that they often seem compacted together. I myself am an artist and not an architect, although building design can at times be a part of the artwork I create. The problem with compact spaces is that they are often places that become slums, places that cause greater depression and also crime. People don't often do so well crammed in together into small spaces. People like to feel they have some space, some freedom, and aren't encroaching on other people's spaces. I do, however, understand the reason for compact spaces due to the number of people compared to space available and leaving some for things such as resources and even to leave natural. I feel it would be wise to work with nature and maybe even blend in, not only with our homes and other buildings but our technology also. We, if course, also have to think about doing these things in a sustainable and lasting way due to climate change and resources. It's quite a tough challenge, but one I also feel is definitely possible. I saw in another of your wonderful videos that you are speaking about creating buildings based on nature. While there us definitely much we can learn from nature, we also need to consider the space such buildings would provide us, are they sustainable and will they last. You wouldn't want your house degrading while you're still living there. The problem we humans have is that we often design like machines as we build things out of block shapes, which, although understandable why we do so, feel dull and boring. With designs around nature, though, although they can be pleasing to the eye, it can often cost more to build, especially if they require different sizes and shapes of glass for windows, etc. There has to be a balance somewhere. I have found your videos to be very interesting and your points are very well explained. Something I've not taken too much interest until now and have learned a great deal. I could go on all day about the subject but won't as I've already taken up too much virtual space here, lol! 😂😂 Havw a wonderful day, take care!

Yeah, Persians had rudimentary A/C in 1000BC because of the qanat/wind catcher effect. It's pretty amazing we don't use this in the desert southwest ...anywhere. confident this would work in the not-so-dry ecosystem of the Sonoran and Chihuahuan deserts.

NEWS FLASH: talented architect passes medical board exam in neurology [kidding]. I remember the exhibit was duplicated at the Ontario Science Centre in the early 70s. I think there was an increase of homosexual behavior observed with crowding, perhaps the hypothesis would involve a natural compensating mechanism for the lack of space. Serious, not trying to insult anyone.

there are plenty of optimists who seriously predict a vast decrease in costs of materials and manufacturing, partly due to nanotechnology. We should focus modestly on such optimism, and get humanity on the same page, without being too arrogant about it. Nothing new, but what's the deal with all the pessimism?
