I came here because this is where my wife grew up and one of us had to move. I’m from Texas, conservative family. Her family is conservative too. I’m so freaking glad Boise is becoming more liberal i can’t stand the close minded beliefs we come from. They preach love but hate gays. They think trump actually cares about them when all he does is support the top 1%. Trump doesn’t know hard work. He doesn’t know struggle and his policies hurt our farmers, not help. And then everyone from California sold their houses there to wreck our housing market so those of us here before and were saving up for a house now have to see it as a pipe dream. While realtors pants get tighter. Glad you guys are getting the bag while the rest of us struggle 👏

I’ve lived in the Boise/Meridian area almost 50 years of my life. I don’t really think the politics have really changed much in Boise. Boise has always been influenced greatly by the views of the young folks attending BSU, which is a fairly large university, and the folks living in the North End which have been moderates as far as I can remember. The thing that has changed the most politically in my opinion is the constant talk about politics, which people rarely talked about in the past.

Soo the part about being outside the city limits is gone. Also, with an enhanced conceal carry permit you do not need a background check.

People in Boise moving to Emmett...Emmett is a country, "hick" town. Don't move there unless you want to assimilate to that culture. If you want to maintain your "city-slicker" ways, then don't move to most of Idaho.

At first I thought it was a little unprofessional to leave in the scenes where you're struggling a little bit with your verbiage and words. But towards the end of the video, I realized that, that adds a little bit more realism to the video. If I were to meet someone in person to talk about Boise, I don't want them to read me a script and sound like an infomercial. I want them to sound a little bit more real and be a little bit more real about the areas. Good job mate!

One more question. I'm a little concerned with the hospital and medical quality. I've checked out St. Luke's Boise Medical Center and frankly I'd have to rate it as marginal. Any plans you are aware of to address the situation?
None that I am aware of. Personally I avoid those types of hospitals and go to functional medicine doctors. We have a number of great functional doctors. What was the issue you found? We have a number of hospitals and I have family and friends at a number of them I can find out more for you.
@@movingtoboiseid St. Luke's Just doesn't do well in side by side ratings. Troubling since it's the #1 rated in ID. It is rated high performing in 2 adult specialties and 19 procedures and conditions but zero national rankings. I'm a little surprised with all the folks moving to ID for retirement this hasn't come up before.
It does, but it i case by case, and everyone is different with their needs. Overall It seems like St Lukes is better in general. But it depends on the department. I have seen the Meridian location be better. There are times I have heard St. Alphonsus is better, it just depends on who you talk to. The most important thing is usually just that it is available and how far it is. I try my best to be an expert on everything, but unfortunately I cant know it all, and fall short.
Are you saying Eagle is less conservative?
Its very conservative, but It is not like Star, Kuna, Middleton. Its moving closer to what Boise is.

We love quiet traditional areas -but if we move my work is in Boise , don't mind a 30 minute commute 😊and in 400k range 😅

I got here about 2 years ago. I've heard the Boise S/Z thing about 50/50, even from long time natives. People asserting that S is more native is an exaggerated attempt to differentiate themselves. My dad got here 15 years ago, my mom came to join him about 8 years ago. They were previously divorced, remarried, divorced again, now reunited. A real love story. ID's long been a retirement destination for people from all over, this "invasion" is really nothing new. Politics aside, it really does work better for older people. More nature, outdoor life, people go to bed early, not much nightlife to speak of. No tech other than Micron and HP, no fast paced startup, climb the corporate ladder mentality. Nearing 50 myself, this all works for me. However I must say, that for a place claiming to be so anti-California, the corporate bureaucratic BS I've experienced in the education sector here rivals the best that Silicon Valley can dish out. Haha. Cheers.

Its a little bit of a long story, But I lived in Both Meridian and Nampa until College, then after college I lived in both Nampa and Meridian for about the same amount of time.

The politics are worse than the actual people. I'm an Idaho native and have lived in Boise since 2005. I am also a progressive. Bring your A game and patience to talk politics. Most conservatives here get their news from talking BS at the local cafe or a bar from a friend that only watches infowars.

I grew up there in the 70s, 80s, 90s and up to 2014. Man has it changed. I miss the 70s. Stay out of the trailer parks and parts of the north side. There are norteno and sureno gangs in those pockets.
