I was stuck in the bush at Ingleburn south of Sydney in 1988 in one of the wettest, coldest winters in decades and for a week we just had the CR 5M. It was all tins. It was the worst week of my life.

Great improvement. I avoided the one man ration packs from the 1967-87 period. Being in vechicles we used the 10 man RP. I would be happy with this.

Shouldn't you have tried to combine the peaches with the serial, peaches with vanilla drink, coffee with vanilla drink? How about the red punch drink? This was 5 out of 10 for me

Hi, I found all the meals need added extras to suit your own flavor needs. I would add 2 teaspoons of curry powder, half a tsp of salt, 1 tsp of butter and a teaspoon of Franks red hot before adding the water to give this meal a lift. You have to remember that in todays market place they have to make meals that don't offend the 'average' palate. So low salt, low fat and no bold flavors. Fat is the flavor carrier. The average Australian has an English background where even a dash of white pepper is enough to have them gasping with tears in their eyes. So can only imagine their faces sitting in the bush having their first mouthful of Back Country Green Thai chicken curry, where they didn't hold back with the fire, ha ha ha. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

That is obviously a jungle pack of rations. If you compare this to other ration packs in colder climates where you see more carbs and fat as well as meat and carbs it is very light by comparison. Move over Gloria Marshal. Very light diet with lots of sugar and electrolytes.

Yeah , I got the same kit this week and thought it was pretty underwhelming tbh. Each meal has a tootsie roll as dessert which was very disappointing.

I was in the Danish Army infantry, 1973 we got canfood-it was good Meatballs and potato powder. it was really good at that time......

just an update on the whole isotonic drink situation. nutritionists are now saying they are not very healthy, and far better is for a person to derive their salt and minerals from food. It's a slower release and doesn't give you a big sugar hit and crash like a drink will.

"trans fat free" smart thinking vault tech, for those who dont know trans fat is the worst kind of fat for u its made when componies turn liquid oils into fats like margarine its processed fat instead of natural fats, while exsperts will adxvise lowering normal fat intake they also advise to cut trans fats out of your diet completely as it largely increases chance of heart desease
