    I'm very surprised that someone would have all the cameras, including a DRONE, only to make a whole a$$ almost 20 min REVIEW video, with NO ON-THE-WATER FOOTAGE, until the last 20 seconds of the video... Wild...

  • @ChrisMitchellFishing

    I was new to the whole thing. Didn’t know what I was doing, didn’t know how to make a proper review video and bought all the camera gear that I thought was necessary which was totally unnecessary. Live and learn. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Why you fighting the fish with your rod waaaay behind you like that? That's why they got off. Once you're that far back you have no more room to maneuver if they run at you/get slack in your line. Maybe a faster gear ratio reel? (not knowing what you're using tho...)

  • @ChrisMitchellFishing
    @ChrisMitchellFishing8 күн бұрын

    You're right about needing a faster gear ratio reel. When reeling in the fish from a kayak, the kayak moves towards the fish. So a faster reel will help with that. I'm working on switching all my reels to faster reels lol. Another reason is because I had to have the rod tip up high to keep the bait at the top of the water column and above the grass. Just that situation was not ideal with the gear I had at the time. A longer rod and a faster reel would have been a lot better.

  • @Twangtown7
    @Twangtown78 күн бұрын

    @@ChrisMitchellFishing I don't fish from a kayak, but god point about the yak naturally pulling forward when fighting a fish. Never thought of that. I if you had pedals that would alleviate that? You could just backpedal while fighting if you wanted.

    Thank you! There's two good trails here in Florida. FKBT (Florida Kayak Bass Trail) and Florida B.A.S.S. Nation Kayak Series. Unfortunately right now the season for both trails has come to an end till Sep/Nov then they will start back up again. I will make a video this weekend explaining the steps in detail on how to get going on either trail. It's easier that way to explain and will help a lot of new people!

    Any pointers on working your drag on a bait caster? Do you crank it as tight as it goes and let line out using your thumb?

  • @ChrisMitchellFishing
    @ChrisMitchellFishing20 күн бұрын

    I don't thumb the line anymore. I find my self either loosing fish because I let too much out or my reel will backlash cause I don't have full control over it. I usually tighten my drag all the way for a good hookset and depending on how big the fish feels, I play with the drag settings as I'm fighting the fish. Seems more effective in my experience. Ill probably make a video on it going more into detail this weekend. Thanks for asking!

You can sign up on the Fishing Chaos app. Then when they release tournament events, you’ll be able to register for the tournaments on the fishing chaos app as well. If there’s any specific questions you have for the club, you can message them on facebook. “Florida Kayak Bass Trail” Hope this helps!

    Just bought a trailer for my OT Sportsman 106 PDL and the factory bunks just weren't holding it in place. I found your vid and found that 3" Schedule 40 did the trick. I had to use 2 each 10'' pipes and bend the front section down 20° with a heat gun and a bottle of vodka. 😁 Then added two retractable tie down straps bolted to the frame. The kayak slides on and off like a charm. Thanks for sharing!
