If quality heads have any future value knocking over the 3 pointer removes a future head. It would grow into something with size and points. And possibly also not shooting its' mother, she's 50% of genetics. If having them everywhere is wanted (without the place being eaten out) having good ones is often preferred, and knocking over the young ones or sub hinds provides meat. Superb managing not to wing the hind on the weaner mission, he was pretty tame to give a second crack. They're the best eaters, the sausage blanks some rave about as quality free range fully traceable meat (some from TB etc areas that never gets mentioned) have little in common.

bit of a shame just taking the head off that stag, would have been a relatively easy meat recovery given that you guys were helicoptered into the area. would have taken all the meat off that beast, he looked in great body condition.

Mate a 270 to shoot goats when I was goat culling in new Zealand i used a 223 Ruger I've shoot many goats with a 22 and 22 magnum
