The shorter wheelbase of today's popsicle skateboards is what enables these to function with the typical wheels of today that are on average 52mm even some that are smaller in the market and then the ones 53mm or 54mm all the way thru 58mm or even 60mm of Spitfire and other brands used on popsicles.. MY FAVORITE are 80's skateboards & wheels but you need at least a 58 conical wheel or bigger to use modern wheels on old school 80's due to wheelbase. I've vintage 80's wheels but at times I use my 58mm 95a OJ's on my 80's style skateboards.

I got these. They are a bit sticky on asphalt, but, slide pretty well. They are really durable. I've done a ton of power slides on medium rough asphalt and don't really see hardly and wear on them. They are slower than soft wheels like AWOLs even though they are tall and have a wide ride patch. I think the fact that they are hard, vibrates the bearings more which slows them down.

I love really big wheels. It's weird how hard it is to find a 65mm wheel that's not a soft longboard wheel. I'm skating Slimeballs Big Balls 65mm/97a right now, they look super similar to this wheel. Powell and Slimeballs are the only companies making a wheel like this and I've looked high and low for them. I'm seriously considering getting the G Bones when I get new wheels.

If you want a really smooth fast wheel for cruising on asphalt, check out Mini Logo AWOLs in 59mm or 63mm. They're real fast and great for cruising. Only thing is that they are 80A. I was thinking about trying G Bones since you can slide with them, which you can't really do with AWOLs. I'm wondering how fast G Bones are on asphalt compared to a softer wheel of similar size like AWOLs? Hard small wheels suck for cruising on asphalt. They are way way slower than large AWOLs, or, even 55mm AWOLs. I think the fact that they are wider than street wheels makes a significant difference. Not sure about how much hardness matters for speed on asphalt. I guess I could try these to find out.
