Another Great vid! At the end, when you show your semi-permanent rig, does the power cord not overheat inside the PVC compartment? Same question regarding the Pi; it doesn’t overheat inside the PVC compartment? I didn’t notice any vents. And if you did have vents, how would you keep the rain out? Thanks for all the informative videos. I appreciate them all!

Hello, but once the polar alignment has been done, how do you synchronize the mount to ensure that the coordinates of the mount itself correspond to the coordinates resolved with plate solving? Thank you

Today I bought my third type of cable, to finally be able to use my mount without the HC. I found out that this last cable that I got today is only for AsiAir.... None of the 3 cables working with my notebook. I'm very lost now, nowhere to see a solution, tried everything. Does the cable you made, will work with laptop too or only with the AsiAir?

Great video for a newbie to astrophotography. Question.. my version of NINA asks for site elevation as does my skywatcher handset. It's around 200m here in Spain but NINA gives an error that it can't reach this elevation. Do you have any thoughts/ideas. Much appreciated.

I ran the filter offset and accepted, however I did not choose my new autofocus filter. Is there a way to go into NINA and fix that or do I need to run the whole process again?

Hi PA. I have a question about the 10:00 mark. When setting the focal ratio, are you taking into account if you are running a reducer/flattner? For example, I have a telescope with an aperture of 6.5 and focal length of 780mm. But i'm running a reducer/flattner of 0.8 which brings my focal length to 624mm. What would my aperture be? Thanks!

Thanks for the tutorial. I wonder, when running two setups with the synchroniced wait. Can I stop one setup earlier? See when there is a meridian flip, the second rig is pointing in the wrong region of the sky, so in case I dont want to readjust everything i would just stop taking pictures with that. but that also means, that any synchronize command on the main rig would wait forever for a synch as the second rig is out of the routine already. no? A workaround would maybe be that the meridian flip is a trigger to stop both routines and then only the main righ starts another imaging routine.

Two years old and still a relevant video, Chad! Moving from Voyager to NINA (and I loved Voyager for its DragScript) - but I'm discovering (as a result of your videos) that much of what I use in Voyager can be done in the advanced sequencer in NINA - conversion accomplished! I'm using 3.1 Beta.

As time passed, 2024 arrived, and NIN still didn’t have a simple algorithm - to shoot a panorama one frame from each installed plate in a circle and as many times as you indicate in the Progress line. Why then the Cycle and One after another mode? It’s a pity that this only works within one sequence, for example for mono cameras when shooting with filters, but does not work for different sequences when shooting a panorama.

I am new to deep sky imaging. I have Hydrogen-alpha clip-in filter which I am using with Canon 6D astro-modified. I am confused how to change the filter while my RGB exposures are running. Coz if I plug the filter in the plate-solving settings will also change right? Should I stop the exposures and then start plate-solving again?

Very nicely detailed procedure. Thanks. Any advice on building a semi-permanent such battery with a solar panel charger that can survive in extreme cold? I built one, and it works fine in Summer, but the winter cold (routinely below zero F) ruins the battery. I know there are expensive cold-weather 12V rechargeable batteries, but any other suggestions? Thanks.

Hi PA im currently using my Nikon Z6 and 150-600mm lens on a HEQ5 mount i am also running nina though very new to it but learnt the basics of 3 star plate solve and meridian flip , regards to focusing i am still looking on the back of my camera and manual focusing the lens / ive also useing a 3rd party plugin so i can focus via the pc but the viewing quality is rubbish so i have 2 questions ,... 1 whats would you say would be the best way to focus my dlsr ? 2 if and when i get a dedicated astro camera how would i focus that without an autofocuser as there is no screen on the back of the camera to help and money is really tight so cant really afford the focuser yet many thanks in advance :)

Hi, great video which I followed when I got into astrophotography a couple of years ago. I recently updated my horizon and found a great android App ' *_Surveyor Tools Free_* '. It calibrates to astro north by pointing at your phones shadow. It allows you to take photos which include the AZ coordinates as you scan your horizon.

I bought a MELE Quiter 4. I have 116 light frames to transfer. I plugged a fast USB 3 Card reader in with the same XQD card my Nikon camera uses (very speedy transferring to my photography computer). I remotely opened two file windows for the Q3 and XQD. Trying to transfer by dragging and dropping. Glacially slow. Says it will take more than a day to transfer 116 light frames. Your recommendations appreciated. Also, can NINA just store the images directly to the Nikon camera?

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to work on my Mele 3. I can create a folder in the Templates folder and I can save the complete sequence using the floppy disk + symbol at the bottom left but neither the saved file or the subfolder will appear in the Templates menu even if I restart NINA. I can load the new sequence template *.json file by selecting the Folder search link on the bottom left and clicking on the file but it won't appear in the Templates on the right hand side. Also the file that's saved using that method has a .json file extension and the existing default files end in .template.json

NINA has many features that I like (trying to switch from APT) however it doesn't want to work with my Canon DSLR. It's the bulb setting. Everything is fine in Manual mode however switching to Bulb crashes the photo routine. Everything is configured correctly. Any suggestions (I have looked everywhere for a solution)?

Maybe late to the party but found this channel recently and used this video to set up a Morefine Mini-PC (also saw it recommended here) in my dome last week. Video is excellent, easy to follow and some tips/hints along the way that made what I thought was going to be a torture in to a great experience. SharpCap 4.1 is working perfectly with the setup and if I can just figure out how to get autofocus to work consistently, I'll be there. Thanks for doing this series!

Hi, and thanks for the great tips! I've just completed mine but instead of your T, I used 3 planks in a Y. Wish I had seen this first! Looks so much simpler. Plus the centre connection is brilliant! I'm in 2 minds about drilling a cup for the ends of the legs vs attaching stoppers at the end of the planks. With stoppers, I can leave the planks longer and have infinite positions should I wish to extend the tripod legs. But I'm brand new to this. Do you never see a situation where you might like to extend your tripod legs and raise your telescope?
