Beautiful singing, but I was thoroughly distracted by all those idiots aimlessly walking around during the performance.

Glad you enjoyed it. The choir was performing in a public area during a busy time of day. Those walking were not idiots, but faculty, staff, and students at our university who were on their way to their next class or duty. What you didn't see were the many who paused to listen, or sat down to enjoy the entire performance.

I did this with my choir for graduation last year. We thought it was kind of funny that it sounds like it's about death

If you look at many of the African-American spirituals that we have access to now, you'll find that many have to do with death and life after death. That comes out of slavery and the deep wish for a better life than the one they were subjected to.

Shawn kirchner's website has a very interesting explanation for how this song came about, I recommend reading it. He was inspired by a dangerous intersection he walked across every day to get to work.

Every time I think there can't possibly be a better arrangement of one of my favourite lds hymns, along comes this gem. The female soloist turns the intro into an aria from celestial realms, and it ascends from there. Superb setting and cinematography. I give thanks.

It’s even cooler to me because I actually had the chance to listen to you all practice it after a recording session at BYU. I loved how you all did rehearsal and really liked the raising hands signaling a mistake or hard part or something like that. I want to implement that when I teach choir someday.
