Great show ! Paul is a lot of fun ! So much talk not about HAM radio LOL . That FLU going around NY as well. Also a new strain of COVID but not at high levels like before. That heat out west is crazy ! Cutting power to prevent fires. I have not made many contacts to Japan. Must be how the bands are in NY . 73
A great show guys! Thoroughly enjoy the comradery.
A few questions I see in chat rewatching that may not have been answered. POTA is popular in Japan, not as much as the USA though, I tried to activate one once but failed. Yes only 50w in Japan. Yes I am planning on going to Tokyo HamFest and streaming from Tokyo's 'Electric City' as well as from the Hamfest. Jeff, i mistook the Alpha auto tuner with the Chameleon tuner device, Chameleon is the too expensive of remote tuner device, imo. I love streams that end in 'there was this thing with a goat and wesson oil'.... 😂 Thank CaHR guys for having me on!
I love Mud bugs and frog legs!
I guess you need a beard to be on CaHR. Haha😂
It’s an unwritten rule
I had shaved a month ago, thought I'd better regrow before I joined...🤣
Damnit I just bought one and I'm thinking that I'm prolly just not gonna hear anything on it like the other ones..
Lots of action on YSF
MOU ((((((((((((
Sometimes you need clearance
Hams can talk point to point PD FD cant
True
HI Kc2ayg Guy I was the ncs for 911 please take note 911 was a crime scene
I think every state should have an emergency frequency as a standard for that state in specific so in case of an emergency all ham radio stations only have to tune to that specific frequency and boom done! One specific frequency for every state.
I like that idea
And in times of emergency ONE frequency would be unusable, even one statewide repeater system would be unusable. You need LOCAL frequencies that are known and exercised.
I use SDR Console.. it is awesome and has all the plugins built in..
It is pretty nice
Nice show ! I have the SDRplay . older one. Pricy . I need to get filters for it. gets over loaded a lot from strong signals . 73's
Thanks for watching Robert
In Montgomery county Maryland the ARES group is pretty on top of stuff. They do lots of prep pretty regularly. They enlist the non-emcomm hams to do things like signal coverage tests at important sites like evacuation areas and hospitals, they meet regularly with county officials. It takes a lot of work. I fear for the retirement of the guys who run it now. IMO it's important to remember that hams are the last resort in most cases and we need to act like it.
Some of the groups are much better than others
"There's a problem at the bathroom". That's a "code brown".
😳
Jim, gotta love Alabama this time of year. Y'all coming to Hamfest?
he says he is
Yawn ! ZZZZZZzzzzzzz . Now I know why no one wants to get into Ham radio.
RIght
T.o., can I please mail you a microphone😂
Satellites are a modifier.
I honestly don't understand the attraction of contesting. Obtaining a list of call signs is just foolish to me. Instead, why not contact someone and TALK to them for a bit. Make friends or whatever?
I'm not a fan of contests either
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Looking forward to the AA0Z Inaugural Contest.
I don't know what you are talking about. Most contests have categories: High power, Low power, QRP, Single band, All bands, Single Op, Multi Op, Multi Op Multi TX. Just choose a category where you can win if it is your goal. You can win even if you do not operate 24 hours or 48 hours just choose a band which is not open 24 hours a day. Or just do it for fun, try to get DXCC in one contest. I participated in many contests and got several certificates for being number one in the Carribean low power all bands although I did not operate the whole length of the contest. Don't tell anyone but I got these certificates because usually I am the only one contesting in this category and region. My most cherished certificate: the one with 0 points and 4 multipliers (contacts in your DXCC do not count for points, only multipliers). I wanted to send it as a check log but decided to re-read the rules of the contest. Nowhere did it say that you have to make points so I sent it as a contest entry.
Definitely a great Christmas movie 😂
lol
damn that echo shit is why i gave up acid....
One would think that doing a show about field day, there would be a bit of pre show research....
I wouldn't think that
@@CoffeeandHamRadios Sorry it was meant as a joke, but as I re read it I missed the mark
Hell my station ia always battery, in my entire life as a ham (started in 1997) has been run on battery.
setup=grill lit steak on it and beer on ice.

You don't have to be a big gun to compete in contests. I made my own quarter wave vertical for 15M around 2008. I not only came in first place for CQWW CW 100W assisted ninth district, but I had broken the record for that category. It's been broken since, but I did have that under my belt.
There area already contests that are 24-48 hours, but limit operation to 12-18 hours. The logical (to me) solution for modern life is sure, have a 48 hour contest over a weekend, but limit operations to 2 hours total. everybody still gets greyline or whatever, but you're not competing against people that sit for 48 hours operating.
People who hate these ideas and actually take the time to send nasty letters are spending WAYYYYYYYYYY too much time in this hobby and need a look at their own life balance.
100%
Totally agree. ANYONE with a life - family, job, the wish to prevent their house becoming a stink-hole, will not have the time to enter contests for 24 hours over a weekend. A way of matching up a one hour commitment with others doing the same is the way to go. LIVE SCORING will transform contesting for the better.
LOL, I can't imagine sitting there for hours on end...
This is a great idea.
Thanks!
Membership for contesting maybe. I just freed up $50 bucks a Year by dropping the ARRL. I am done with that mess. Unless they come out with modern software and do a complete revamp to a old dead and stinking way of doing things.
I'm sorry for the dislike but can't support or like anything with Kyle
We don't blame you...
I'm sorry for the dislike, but can't support or like anything with Kyle
Agreed...
I'm sorry for the dislike but I can't support or like anything with Kyle.
I'm sorry for the dislike but I can't support or like anything with Kyle. 🤣
Can this filter help with broadband interference
Yes, filters can help with that.
@@CoffeeandHamRadios how much? Power line and traffic lights here are killing us on all hf bands.
It’s nice to have a qso now without getting banned for going over 10 minutes! BM was so ridiculous.
LOL
Brandmeister sucks.
People have been saying that...
So i got my hotspot connected alt wont i need a DMR radio to use it?i see myself on the dashboard and Hotspot list..
You will need a digital capable radio
Ok, like most things DMR, there was a slight learning curve getting things configured and working for AMCOMM. Using an MMDVM duplex with WPSD. Have not made any contacts at this time, just listening…
Yeah, smooth sailing once you get the hang of it...
@@CoffeeandHamRadios made a QSO on TG 1033. Parrot is not straightforward, but I did get it to respond.
Ctrl+f is your friend. I always forget it exists at least for the first 30min of finding things on a page.
That's a handy tip
Sam is good QA }:)
On the hotspot connection issue... I cloned a hotspot profile from the network that shall not be named. That other network requires a custom hotspot password to be established through their self-service, and I had to change the password on my AmComm connection profile to the old default DMR password.
Ah, that's good info
