During my divorce a Property Settlement Agreement was a must. The Property Settlement Agreement dictates alimony, child support, division of property and investments. In other words I got child support to continue until my child made more than what she's receiving in child support. Health Insurance is also very important to think about. In my Agreement my ex must keep our daughter insured until she can obtain and pay for it on her own. As far as the length of time you receive alimony depends on what the two of you agree on. Yes the state does have their little calculator of time but you can always ask for more than what the state allows. For those seeking alimony make sure your lawyer takes into account that if your spouse exceeds a certain amount of money YOU can take him/her back to court for more support. It's extremely important to hire a lawyer that has a really good reputation and the respect of the judges. You'll need a power house attorney. Question James Wilson: What if the child quits school to be home schooled in Virginia,missing a part that senior year, but said custodian parent doesn't have a certificate or teaching degree and said child reaches 18 mid way through the year? Is this claim for saying the child has quit high school *recognized government legal place of learning* would the common wealth recognize the mother home schooling as a a legal recognized source even though the mother isn't a certified and licensed teacher.
You still have to pay child support. Now i have to find out about the home schooling.

However va can get the most money thats how va does everything the way they can fuck you and get the most money from you thats how they do their figuring. I had va try to tack on an extra 22000.00 and they were going to put me in jail for money i didnt even owe til i showed proof i didnt owe it so bottom line they take more from those who dont stand up against them. Virginia is one of the most crooked states i have ever seen and they get away with all their crimes everyday. If you live in va and are poor you mean nothing but if you have money you can do what you want. I know a man that pays them 10000.00 per year just wipe his rape record clean so he can keep his job at volvo plant and thuis guys brother is a cop and i know its true i seen the return checks the guy showed me and braged about it. Va is all about how much money you have and it needs to be addressed by our awesome president as well all the so called common wealth states are just an excuse to take more money from the states people.

During my divorce a Property Settlement Agreement was a must. The Property Settlement Agreement dictates alimony, child support, division of property and investments. MAKE SURE YOUR LAWYER MAKES YOUR AGREEMENT NON MODIFIABLE!!!! This is very important. This will protect you from your ex trying to take you back to court to reduce alimony or child support or both. This can save you a lot of money because a Judge won't even hear a non modifiable Agreement. My ex is a very successful Lawyer so I had to be protected by lawyers that truly cared about my case and future especially if you've been a stay at home for over 10 years. If you have a child that has Special Needs you have every right to ask for child support beyond 18 years old. In my Agreement just to give you an example my lawyers wanted to make sure my child was protected for life. In other words I got child support to continue until my child made more than what she's receiving in child support. Health Insurance is also very important to think about. In my Agreement my ex must keep our daughter insured until she can obtain and pay for it on her own. As far as the length of time you receive alimony depends on what the two of you agree on. Yes the state does have their little calculator of time but you can always ask for more than what the state allows. For those seeking alimony make sure your lawyer takes into account that if your spouse exceeds a certain amount of money YOU can take him/her back to court for more support. It's extremely important to hire a lawyer that has a really good reputation and the respect of the judges. You'll need a power house attorney.
