So lovely to find your video about this track. I did the same hike in 1991, and I recognise a lot. It was a bit more primitive back then, no electricity expept in Namche Bazar, we used candles to find our beds. Beautiful country and beautiful people!

I do not know why you went Renjo La first because going the opposite way is both easier and safer (much better acclimatisation in more interesting places).
@royrolston53406 ай бұрын
Yes it is easier the opposite way but it was our forward route from Namache to EBC that we wanted to take and we are very glad we did it this way. Acclimatisation and interesting places is the same either way. We could have added the other pass on way back but that would have made the trip longer and more expensive and besides once reaching EBC we were happy to head for home.
@karipintakivi91536 ай бұрын
@@royrolston5340 You did acclimate ok before Renjo La, but the problem with many trekkers is that they are too much in a hurry to get to Gokyo and skip the necessary acclimatisation before the pass. And suffer the consequences. Going other way one does not get as high as fast. Happy that you enjoyed your trek!

@royrolston534010 ай бұрын
Yes Namche is neat place alright, much more than expected and a good Trekkers base for lots of trek options or R&R. Guinness, yes i think so but not sure. An Irish bar without Guinness?? However all the beer is carted in probably on back of a mule, actually almost everything in Namche is packed in by animal or on someone's back. While a small amount high value stuff might be flown/coppered in its very expensive for the locals.

You miss a lot flying into Lukla; the villages early on in the trek are lovely. It's interesting to see how much the places have changed, particularly the roads and the paved paths. I did this hike in 2001 and one of the most breathtaking parts was the descent from the Lamjura Pass to Junbesi through the forest. I'm not sure I like the new road, but I'm sure it's useful and necessary. You give a great impression of the route. I'll do my best to see the other videos. Thanks for posting this one.

Hi Roy. Thanks for sharing your n your teams experience. Very few follow this route to ENC these days. I took this trek about 20 yrs back. Not a lot has changed except for the network of motor roads which seems to be expanding along the mountains. Thanks to you n your brave team. You guys seem to be doing great. Best wishes. Hope you will find what you came for in Nepal.

Thanks for you kind feedback and glad to hear you have done it previously. Yes very few, most that go this route do it going in as we did and you I understand so we don’t know how many are ahead or behind us behind what I do know we never ran into or stayed with any other group u til we reached the main highway I call it from Lukla to Namche. Coming the other way we only passed a handful of trekkers under 10 I’d say during the 8 days. But that may change with more options to catch a Jeep in rather than fly to Lukla although it’s a very long windy road to endure and that’s prob not going to change anytime soon however the quality of the roads will improve over time as they get used more and more especially to transport goods. I sure hope any road never gets built passed Lukla. In my view that will destroy the unique experience of trekking in that region.
