Good stuff - but you were born in the wrong era! The key to great surf rock is snappy, dynamic, foundational drumming, crisp guitar with reverb, funky, walking bass lines, and soaring Farfisa organ and guitar riffs. It's all about clever layering of such simple elements. You pretty much nailed it!

Before the internet and KZread, we learned all of our songs by listening to recordings of the original recordings. we would slow the speed down so that we could distinguish the notes that were being played by either the bass and or straight guitar. No tabs necessary.

hey my brother I see this alot and i never get a straight answer but what does the spunge so on the bridge of the bass ? I use a sweat band on the neck of my bass to get some of the farts and buzz out.

The sponge under the strings is to mute the strings and get a more percussive sound

Great bass tone! thanks for posting helped me out alot, but I have to say there is a note you are playing wrong, though out the entire song....when your walking it back up you have written & you are playing. 2 2 3 4 5 "3" that last 3 is wrong its really 2 2 3 4 5 " 4" thats the last passing note before that progression ends.. thanks for posting !

May I ask, Why the sponge?
@mccormickbass16 Жыл бұрын
The sponge is used to mute the sound of the bass. Less sustain. It is useful to have a motown sound ;)
